  1. Thats interesting. I always thought a bag limit was a bag limit regardless of where you were in NSW. What other areas are different to the norm Dave
  2. Bang my name up guys. You can stick the fly fishing though. I've been told you cant do that sitting down so there is no need for me to learn. Dave
  3. I have only ever used juice/cordial bottles so I can't comment on the other types you have used. What I find is that depth plays a role. The best time I have is a run in with the water only about an inch or two over the top of the bottle. If the water is substantially higher I never get any. Line and hook works but I can't read the paper at the same time. Dave
  4. You can buy a stainless smoker box that sits on or near the burner. Load it up with wood chips and bobs your uncle. The bbq shops sell wood chunks and chips from timbers like hickory and a couple of aromatic things. An easy and cheap one is Banksia cones. You can pick them up off the ground and they work great. Dave
  5. They certainly look better than the Nile Perch that Woolys used to sell
  6. Geez Gazza I didn't think I was mature age
  7. And the good thing about Yowie Bay is you can have a quick beer on the steps of the bottlo after you have got the boat on. Only one though you still have to drive. Dave
  8. G'day Fair while since I've posted. Mainly because I seem to have lost my ability to catch fish. I've had an absolute miserable time lately with very few fish coming over the side. So after a bit of a whinge up the pub a mate of mine took pity on me and dragged me up the Hawkesbury early on Saturday morning. We anchored up at his favourite spot and shot a bit of berley over the side and before either of us could get baited up his old man had one in the boat. Then my mate got one then his old man got two then my mate. Five in the boat in about thirty minutes and none of them where mine. I started to feel like the loss of Mojo was bloody real. By now the sun was well up and we were a bit into the run out. Then I landed one. It just wasn't a keeper. Then it came, a keeper! Not a big bluenose but still a reasonable bream We fished for around four hours when the fish suddenly went off. By this stage we had about twentyfive in the boat and had thrown back around ten including four or five that were legal at twentyfive or six. We upped anchor and had a couple cracks at a few other spots for another couple. Then shot through. We ended up with twenty nine bream and a flathead all caught on nippers. Glad to say that I may not have got a clean third of the catch but did hold my end up. There was another couple caught after this was taken but the phone went flat. Dave
  9. I've just been through this process. Having not bought a new battery for a number of years I was shocked (no electrical pun intended) when I visited a chain battery store and was told their 100ah AGM batteries started at $400. I hit the online sites and found one at $220. My view on brands and names quickly became " I'll take the one at nearly half the price and hope it lasts long enough" I got mine from fleabay. It had no postage and handling costs but given the joint was in the same suburb as me I just went and picked it up. Dave
  10. Gotta be happy when your bringing home 35cm+ whiting
  11. Cracker of a fish. Goin on the background I've got a few good ones out of there in the past (although not quite that good) Dave
  12. Enjoy the day Donna. I hope he is spoilling you over there. Dave
  13. Hahahahah Any chance you can record it Donna and post it up. Have a great trip. Dave
  14. Two sessions in the Hacking last week and didnt hit slime at all. Didnt hit fish either unfortunately, unless you include a couple of dozen reddies and a couple of undersize flatties. Dave
  15. Sounds like you both had a very enjoyable day. The yaks arent for me though, I can't see anywhere that I can make a cup of tea Dave
  16. A couple of days late and no photos but i figured I better start posting again. I had a brief session on each of the three days of the long weekend hunting Blackies in the Woronora River. I'm pretty lazy when it comes to fishing so most of my sessions are as near to home and the ramp as possible. Fortunately the Wonny is only a couple of minutes away now and goes alright on the Blackfish. Saturday and Sunday were spent fishing a few spots along the Bonnet Bay/Como stretch of the river and even ventured as far as Thompsons Bay (all of about 1km from ramp). Landed nine or ten undersize models on both days and took home three keepers each day with the largest going 32cm. Monday I had the oldman for company and we stayed around the 8 knot marker near Bonnet Bay and didnt have a great session but still managed a couple of legals. We came back to the ramp at Bonnet Bay and had a dig near the first pontoon before the point. We only had about 30mins there but landed a couple of decent fish. The oldman got absolutley smashed by one that took him under the boat, back out and then under the pontoon before his hook came off. Now for a bloke thats been fishing regularly for his whole 71 years i could have killed him when he said "I didnt think that knot was up to it when i tied it". Really Dad SO WHY DID YOU STILL BLOODY USE IT. Anyway........it was a cracker of a fish and he dropped it not me. All the legal fish were taken on the start of the runout with only a couple of not so serious downs on the end of the flood tide. It wasnt a bad go for my first blackfishing session(s) of the year, plenty more to come though. Dave
  17. When i was looking for one a few years ago i felt the Quintrex was a little over priced. I was leaning towards the Stacer as it seemed to be of a similar build quality and a touch lower in price. In the end though i got a 4.1 open Polycraft which I cant recommend highly enough. Dave
  18. Nice Ray. Now we have seen the Pics "bore" us with more talk
  19. Easy to install and yes you will need to drill holes. Your best bet is to get a quick release bracket. That way you can remove it easily when you dont intend to use it. I landed a deep cycle battery pretty cheap from fleabay that i have been happy with for a few years now. There are a few places on there where you can pick up in Sydney Dave
  20. Oh and - death to Tom Waterhouse
  21. Unfortunately i was stupid enough to sign up for four different footy comps. A phone call from Stewey half hour ago reminded me i had forgotten about this one. You're all in trouble now i am going to blitz the season regardless of the poor Sharks problems. Dave
  22. Stradic 2500 can't go past them
  23. Hence the reason why there asre regular photos of you fishing and not many of Donna. Take her fishing you #@&*#@@
  24. Gday Geoff One on a mullet strip and one on a 3" gulp smelt. Dropped one at the boat and got a couple of small ones all on mullet. Dave
  25. Haven't posted for a while and figured it was about time to start again. Only problem is I don't have much to report. Dropped five pots out in the Georges near Como/Oyster Bay for the last three hours of the tide this morning. Nice fresh mullet for bait but no takers. Not sure if its a bit early for them to be up the river or the rain has put them off either way they weren't there this morning. Did manage a pidgeon pair of 38cm flathead as a consolation. Dave
