  1. 1) Win 2) Win Good stuff Neil.
  2. Dam sharks, spoil a good day out and that would have been a nice capture. I really believe that this is learned behaviour from the Sharks as what I’ve experienced in over 25 years fishing remote Kimberley where some spots especially for Pelagic fish it’s not worth fishing now as the “Tax man” takes more than giving back and these pelagic fish were destined for release but not in a sharks mouth. Sharks certainly frequent the same areas as Pelagics but they were never like this and I’ve seen change first hand. I also don’t believe it’s an explosion of the shark population where fish populations have dwindled I can’t see Sharks booming. I’m lead to believe that spots around K,gari (Fraser Island) and Hervey Bay has similar problems with trying to land a fish. Well that’s my thoughts anyway …. BF over and out. Hope you had a great holiday anyway.
  3. Great fish mate and you proved you don’t have to be right on the Fad.
  4. Great report Josh with a few things making it interesting. I would have to agree with everyone “Black Rabbitfish” (Official common name) but as already mentioned they go under lots of other names and as also mentioned that if you get stung by them you will be calling it a lot more other names 😄. Good photos to 👍
  5. Sorry @Little_Flatty for my poor description but I did keep the two bigger ones but let the smaller one go. I did give the two that I kept to a neighbour who has the BIGGEST tackle collection I have ever seen that he’s been collecting for many years and always wants to gift me all sorts of Rods, Reels, lures and all and sundry. Nice bloke. @noelm the bigger Sergo’s took a bit of drag and I was hoping, but they just didn’t feel right but my hopes were high till I saw them. All good. Enjoyable morning out never the less. I’ve been lucky and caught all sorts of different fish but never got a good Snapper …… so that’s my quest.
  6. Well I had to make up my mind whether to chase Dolhin Fish out at the Fad as they are getting some or hunt for Snapper and Snapper it was. Tried a different area in about 40mts of water this time with a better result than last. Caught three. one at 47cm, one at 44cm and one at 32cm which I let go. Also caught a few small Red Rock Cod and a few Sergeant Baker with a couple of large ones with one going just over 60cm. More exploring to do. And I think this one was not a Sergeant Major, but a Major Major 😀
  7. Great result Dave and Georgia on the fish front in some great country but sorry to hear Georgia started to feel unwell but cutting the day a little short is far better then it really turning pear shaped, plus you both got some fish and mission accomplished. I love going fishing with my daughter.
  8. Great report Neil and it’s good to see you catching a few fish after the lay off. I like your Bondi beach, certainly more tranquil than the Sydney one.
  9. That’s exactly what I mean, I don’t want anybody’s secret spots, exploration is the fun. It’s not the fish in the box for me but the road I traveled to get there.
  10. Well, after moving up to Port the weather hasn't allowed me to get outside that much but the weather Gods gave me that chance chance a couple of days ago. Being new to the area I had no idea where to start heard that most people fish off Tacking Point, so looking at navtronics I could see its reef in that general area so off I went and had a dag around. Really enjoyed myself, saw one whale, big pod of Dolphins, had a big bait school under the boat at one stage that I could see and another time had the sounder nearly blacked out with bait fish. Got a few Red things but nothing of merit so all were released, one Bluespot that would have been size but I couldn't be bothered cleaning one fish so that was released, So now I'm wondering whether there wasn't many fish around, was I fishing in the wrong spot, wrong gear or something else. Now that's what fishings about, trying to work it out.
  11. The 5 Bands across the back helps identify them as well as the White edges on the fins.
  12. That’s a Marbled Flathead Whiskey. Platycephalus marmoratus Good size too. 👍
  13. That would be an interested list. What would you like to get next.
  14. Geeezzz you’re kicking some more goals there on the Ski. Very nice fish.
  15. Certainly looks a great place to spend some time to relax and chill. Chunky Yellowbelly.
  16. What Dave said about Coral Trout Vs Queenfish
  17. That’s one fantastic adventure, story and photos. Thanks so much for all the effort and time to post it up here. All the photos are fantastic but two I especially like are where you have the photo camping on the beach and the other is camping on the Murrumbidgee. Both to me say isolation and tranquility. Excellent.
  18. Yesterday up here in Port a Sea Fog rolled in just before 1pm, it certainly made it eerie. So I drove up to the lighthouse to get a better look and there were quite a few people there, most didn’t know what was happening. I think some thought it was the Apocalypse 😀. Certainly would not have been fun if you were out in a boat.
  19. That’s epic. Epic story, epic description and EPIC memories. Thanks Noelm.
  20. Certainly unusual to catch one on line. One to remember.
  21. Another great instalment from you two on unusual tropical fish. Geeez these fish make Bream, Flathead and all our Bread and Butter fish look plain. Thanks for posting.
  22. I have also seen where someone hasn’t the line through the runners correctly. Where the line is wrapped around the rod before going through the next runner. With fine line and wind this can get easily done. Check the line is through all the runners correctly.
  23. Great scenery and fish, that’s what a fishing adventure is all about. Looking forward to seeing part 2 and what you two get up to. Thanks for posting,

    Going away

@noelm a few years ago a mate did some remote trips to unheard of Islands up North and what the locals used to catch fish with was very antiquated so what he did on leaving, leave as a gift a few lures or a bit of terminal tackle. He also was a keen underwater hunter so would leave some rubber 😉. So if you had a little room on the bag and could squeeze these in, it may pay off. Sounds great anyway.
