  1. Yowie, well done on persevering with the flats....quite often the whiting turn up and feed for a short term and you endured the cold toes and got a sensational feed!
  2. Nice bag there Yowie! Great sized tailor and i bet those reddie fillets were sweet too!
  3. I'm lucky and can launch in Port Hacking or Botany Bay. Had a quick squid session the other arvo and the Water Police masked up in a big RIB came over for a chat, asked for my license and where I lived. I couldn't get the info on my Service NSW App so they looked my rego up and asked are you Rob? They asked me where I lived and I told them so all sweet. Got a reminder about lifejacket servicing and they were off, friendly guys! Nor Easter was blowing in July so conditions were a bit chilly! Ended up with one nice hood and headed in on dark.
  4. Top stuff and great conditions and pics!!
  5. Mr Reliable does it again😉 Enjoy the fillets!
  6. some amazing bags there...all the more motivation to get back out there once we can!
  7. Great catch and some size to the whiting again!! You might be able to keep enough fillets coming all winter!
  8. That's a winner...getting a feed with the kids in tow and in perfect conditions!!
  9. Corker of a lud...no wonder you're still fishing:)
  10. Yep the Hacking is where I live.....Georges is where I mostly fish atm:)
  11. Thanks Yowie I overlook a sand flat and bought some binoculars yesterday and spotted a few thumpers feeding as the tide came up. I might give it a crack during the week when the boat traffic dies down:)
  12. Sounds like you know your way around the seafood kitchen! Depending on the thickness of the hoods, I also score them but three other ways to tenderise are kiwi fruit, ginger and even milk. If you cook them in a paella or risotto they tenderise because of the long cooking time! The other thing I always avoid is cleaning them in tap water...the chlorine starts to cook them! Always salt water👌 Frank, this time of year they seem to be spawning and the bigger models are about. Thanks Yowie It's always a good winter fall back. I'd love to get into some winter whiting if you have any tips! Kingy Conditions were very still, overcast and turn of high tide between 3-5pm on Wednesday June 30. Orange jig 2.5 with red cloth was most aggressively hit although pink 2.5 and a clear jig with a reflective spinner got a couple.
  13. Went for a walk along the esplanade this morning and there was a Maritime boat checking boats heading out. Solo fishing has its advantages:)
  14. Great bag there Yowie and the red and horse whiting would have brought a big smile I reckon. Maybe you could sick those canniballistic leatheries onto the rogue tinny pilots🤪
  15. Great work Isaac. You'll be king of that wharf soon:) Weather is looking good for more PBs this week!
  16. Hit the Botany Bay this arvo for a quick squid bash. Conditions were perfect with little wind and a bit of cloud cover. Used a jig under a float about 30m off the back of the boat as a lazy drifter and it was the first to go with a good sized hood coming in around the 30cm mark. I threw another jig out behind it and hooked up a smaller model. Over the next two hours when I hooked up I hit spot lock on the MInn Kota and threw jigs behind the hooked squid resulting in two triple hook ups over the afternoon. Finished with 10 inkers and tomorrow I'll spend an hour cleaning them in the salt water and stashing away dinner sized snap lock bags. It should get me through winter with a big family BBQ as soon as we can see each other again! Gotta love being able to fish in lockdown:)
  17. Great vid and nice release....green with envy atm!
  18. Nice work on the fillets and welcome!!
  19. Wow the chat about the lights added another dimension to your already awesome tale....entertaining as always:)
  20. Love the 1am start....serious commitment there and a nice feed of inkers:)
  21. What a cracking bag and a great pic of the flatty and jew!
