  1. A lovely bag of red’s @whiskey299 - many thanks for posting - a comprehensive report. (Not sure about others, but I never get sick of hearing about Kingies).
  2. Well done @kantong, lots of sand flats around the bay in Port Stevens - it looks like you nailed ‘em. It’s a great place and some excellent fishing and great to get the kids involved, stuff memories are made of.
  3. Great idea @faker (wouldn’t work on Kingies as the rod holder would “knock your nuts off”). But not likely to encounter Kingies wading the shallows for Flatties and if you did the line would break before you knew what it was, but I like the idea.👍
  4. Scored again Chris — that is a really nice fat Kingie, we’ll done and thanks for sharing.
  5. Well done @humesy, if that was second session since winter - it was well worth the wait. A really nice Jewie congratulations mate. (We’re the Yakkas live? - heard to keep alive on the beach)
  6. Better than a “fair” catch @Thommo10, thanks for sharing your cracker results.
  7. Another great report Dave. You and Amy certainly “living the dream”. Those Siamese Carp are great fish (love your enthusiasm getting in the water).
  8. Thanks for sharing. Dave looks like you and Am had a fantastic trip. They are a pretty mean looking fish and their reputation sounds well earned. Your pics of the jungle to Riffic. Wish I was there even though it was probably pretty hot and humid with thunderstorms.
  9. An honour and a pleasure James - it’s great Brady likes bream, I’ll stop letting them go and send them his way.
  10. @James Clain and his buddy Brady and I hit the Derrubbin, launching at Wisemans Ferry at the new ramp. (A Pity the council didn’t think of fisherman and put in a cleaning table or a wash down area 😡, but still charging $8.00.) Anyway, we had a cracker session - Brady scoring some really nice Flatties - biggest we caught, gong 48cm and James, a cracker bream of 40cm and I caught the biggest fish (Stingray 😧 ) No Jewies at all today. There was a really small tide with only .3m difference, no wind till 11am and I had some fresh river prawns from one of my trawler mates, so destined for a successful outing.
  11. I hope so Neil - next time you visit, we’ll have a prayer session before hand 😉
  12. Hit the harbour on Monday morning with buddy Steve who wanted to learn how to catch squid (been fishing for 50 years and never been squidding). Fishing conditions & seas were predicted to be pretty calm and wind 10kt or less so should have been optimal weather. However the wind was a NE and about 20kts and sea was very lumpy. Never-the-less we bagged 3 squid in short time and as one was a BIG green eye, we decided to try the headlands for Kingies. One squid gave as 8 baits and we converted this into 7 rat Kingies (everything Nader 65 released of course). We tried wide for Flatties at the 30m mark and bagged a feed, a few small snapper and a healthy Mowie all on Yakka fillets. Due to the crook weather @James Clain and I are going to have a shot at Flatties and Jewies at Wisemans tomorrow- shouldn’t be too windy up the Deerubbin. (Steve didn’t want his face in a photo)
  13. That’s a stonker of a Pearl Perch @blairy69, well done. A top eating fish.
  14. Outstanding result Chris - a “Big Angry Fish” and spectacular eating. I don’t think there is a better eating fish (to my taste) than a bled and chilled dollie. Well done mate. I guess you’re up to speed with the “Big Warm” headed down on the EAC offshore at present) https://theconversation.com/a-monster-eddy-current-is-spinning-into-existence-off-the-coast-of-sydney-will-it-bring-a-new-marine-heatwave-216625
  15. Oh no - new cow and the headlights punched out - hope the insurance on windscreen doesn’t have an excess? You’re probably home by now - let me know when you’re headed back again and hopefully conditions will be better.
  16. I was out on the harbour a week ago and noticed the marine “RV Investigator” (Research Vessel Investigator) heading out through the heads. Tracking it online, there is an interesting prediction for this summer off shore. “But as we head into summer, the mega eddy is unlikely to go anywhere. If it moves towards the coast, where marine life is concentrated, we will see water temperatures spike – and possibly, underwater disaster for many species.” https://theconversation.com/a-monster-eddy-current-is-spinning-into-existence-off-the-coast-of-sydney-will-it-bring-a-new-marine-heatwave-216625
  17. Your new car is a beauty Neil - very comfortable, even though a few challenges with the beeps. The technowizardry I like the most in my Hilux is the hands free phone capability that lets me use it without taking my eyes off the road. It pulled the boat like it wasn’t there, I was very impressed.
  18. A great report Albert. weed beds are a great spo to target Bass and E.P.’s. Nice work on the freshwater Albert - what lure were you using? (Next time it would be great if you could include the lure in the pic).
  19. @big Neil was keen to catch some Mulloway and take some premium fish fillets back to the Riverina. The plan was that he come up to stay for a week and we’d go out each day and get stuck into some serious fishing. The weather however, didn’t fulfil our expectations and although we got out, the huge tides and intense wind, put a damper on our expeditions and we only managed to get out twice - but both times we caught jewfish - but none legal 😧. Location: Deerubbin (Hawkesbury river) and Broken Bay. Bait: Squid and fresh Hawkesbury prawns. Rig: 7’ light action rods, 2500-5000 reels with 30lb braid and 12-20lb trace leaders. Catch: 11 Jewfish in total over the 2 days. Great camaraderie and terrific to catch up with the legend, but disappointing results.
  20. Great report @jaybez, were the copper gold spinners Celta’s or other brand and did you try other colours.? What weight rod / reel / line were you fishing ? Thanks for sharing.
  21. A great report @FishingFables - a great “mates weekend”. So nice to have a stretch of water to yourself - and so close to Sydney (relatively). Wouldn’t it be great to be able to turn the clock back and not have carp released in our water ways. Only +ve is that they fight really well and grow so big (unfortunately). I can relate to “not getting any younger”, but a certain cathartic pleasure in feeling stiff and sore, from a weekend adventure.
  22. AWESOME @Black CC, what a trip (crayfish for breakfast & Barra for tea) - life doesn’t get much better than that, but must have been blinking hot at end of dry. A couple of Q’s, * did you need to patch / repair the kayaks at all? * were insects a problem? * what was the “support” crew (drop off / pick up) * what lures and rod / reel combinations did you use A great report, thanks for sharing.
  23. Nice work @faker. Do you find the action on the “sugarpen” is much different with assist compared to treble hooks?
  24. They are quality fish @Yellowfin79 - absolute rippers. What a difference a guide makes - worth every penny you spend. The young bloke will have memories and (photos) to remember, long after the old fellas have gone. I’ve also had a few trips where moving around and not having storage/ refrigeration meant the fish couldn’t be kept, but the photos “taste sweet”. Congratulations on trophy fish. 👏👏👏
