  1. What a great video Jason. Blue Mts is such a great part of Gods creation. (Many of the NSRT that I trial my gun dogs on are in, across or down the Cox’s river or it’s tributaries and often see trout there and plan to get back to fish them some time)
  2. Another great report @XD351, it sounds like you spent a full day out in the Hawkesbury Ian, well done on the Flatties, somewhat surprised you didn’t pick a legal Jewie up, especially off the deeper water side of the Vines. it’s great you’re willing to share your adventures so openly (I’m the same and don’t believe there are “secret” spots). Well done mate - I’d love to get out on the water with you sometime (once my cracked ribs heal up)
  3. Another great report @Little_Flatty. It’s a pity some folks are inconsiderate and leave rubbish in others backyards😡. Good on you for cleaning it up Mike. It’s a joy when you can spend family time, but still get a window to fish - and great work on the casting, it’s such a buzz when the fly (or lure) land exactly where you want it to, even if there aren’t fish there.
  4. Another great report @Larkin, those are solid squid Chris and a lovely catch of Flatties - some nice fillets there.
  5. Nice work Dave - now school holidays are on I guess you’ll back off fishing a bit? nice to catch a Jewie - praying for a big one I’ll bet.
  6. A solid haul @Basil D, Those are great fish and some big Nannies. I’ve found the Elkat gangs rust pretty quickly? Is this your experience also? It looks like your into snapper sashimi mate - unscaled and not gutted and tail first 🤣
  7. A great report @JariR, it’s great when you “crack the code” and it all starts to fall into place. Very picturesque shots, well done - great to share your passion with mates.
  8. Brilliant video @FishingFables, gotta be a decent fish to break the net. Thanks for sharing, looks like a lot of fun with mates - stuff memories are made of.
  9. Well done on the Redfin Albert (as far as freshwater fish, they are one of the best eating, but not sure if Manly dam is clean enough). A lure that I find deadly on bass is the feral cat signature (Greg Catt makes these himself) in purple / black. I don’t know if they would work in Manly dam, but they certainly work in the Hawkesbury.
  10. Wow Donna - 6 broken ribs must have been extremely painful - still with us though, praise God. How long ago was that - not recently I trust?.
  11. Many thanks Neil, very kind of you to offer help. We’re back in Sydney now ( Julie drove the 5000 kms back towing the caravan) and resting up - still pretty uncomfortable and I don’t think I’ll be out fishing for a while as it still hurts to breath, but could have been worse and “All things work for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purposes”. I trust you are well and putting the bowls in the right spot. look forward to catching up.
  12. Well it’s been an eventful time in W.A. finished the state championships in both S.A and WA then whilst preparing for the Australian Championships over 3 days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) I did a face plant onto some rocks and broke my sternum & 3 ribs ending up in Northam hospital for 3 days. My mate Joe also had his dogs entered and kindly ran Rosie all 3 days, finishing and awarded best non-champion dog and youngest dog to finish, a credit to her working ability as she has only ever been handled by me. Broken sternum/ribs are very painful (even hurts to breath), so won’t be going fishing for a while, so looking forward to reading the reports.
  13. Hey Benny, never had a problem with “hard mouth” with a Lab, but GSP it’s pretty common. Rosie loves fur and feather, but there are moves afoot🫤 to use “rubber ducks” Dokkens, but these are hunting dogs, so it would be a pity if this is introduced (pressure from greenie / Animal Justice lobby as they are trying to ban fishing)
  14. Not a fishing report, just an apology at not being able to post any “fishing reports “ as there ain’t none🫤. Also rarely able to get coverage to log on. Im in backblocks out bush in WA (love the country), but no fishing - will be back in 2 weeks and hope to post.
  15. Terrific outcome @whiskey299- getting the hebbygeebies, not being able to get out on the Kingies (or any fishing for that matter). Great to read your report👍👍
  16. A looong drive across the Nullarbor pulling a van behind the Hilux (Mrs Pickles doing most of the driving), but finally made WA with a week before the State Championships. We had over 30 dogs entered & 6 finished. Rosie’s first year at this level and so finishing 6 runs (3retrieves on each run) was great for us and she received Judges mention and awarded “Best non titled retriever” (most dogs don’t reach this level until they have won 2 championships to receive title of Retrieving Trial Champion). Australian National Championships next week -Friday, Sat, Sunday and hope to finish again. Unfortunately, not much time for fishing😵‍💫 Pickles & Rosie
  17. Hi Raiders, Mrs Pickles & I (&Rosie the retriever) are headed for WA and stopping at Streaky Bay & Fowlers Bay in SA, but never been there before, so keen to do some beach fishing. Does any one know what bait I can collect & rigs that might be different to the East coast(have plenty of gear). A few pics on Murray system in SA - there are zillions of carp here compared to NSW.
  18. Cheers Neil Thanks Benny - yep Rosie is from American working lines and a real “pocket Rocket” with no off switch when she’s working.
  19. Thanks Hoods - Every dog wants to be a Lab and every Lab wants to be black
  20. Mrs Pickles and I are leaving Kimba for Streaky Bay, then Fowlers Bay in SA with Rosie, then big leg across Nullarbor. Never been there before - anyone fished either places - can you collect bait off the beach ???
  21. We left for the South Australia State Retrieving Championships last week and arrived in Cobdogla on Friday. There was a large field of 31 dogs that qualified to run from all over Australia. The event wax over 2days with 6 legs of 3runs. Over the 2 days 23 dogs were eliminated leaving Rosie & 7 others for the final run. She didn’t get a major placing, but we finished our first championship trial. We’re off to Western Australia now for the National championships then a loooong drive home. (I’m on the end with Akubra hat), interestingly all dogs that qualified for the last run were black Labs.
  22. Cracker Cod Steve, well done. Makes all the portaging of the yak’s worth it.
  23. Well done @whiskey299, a nice mixed bag - fisherman’s basket for tea. A good sized Trag and some lovely snapper. @Larkin has some great reports - great you got some good intel.
  24. Great report Dave (and Amy), that’s a cracker Bass mate, we’ll done - love how blue the water is in the Amy’s glass, didn’t realise it was that colour south of the tropics 😉
