  1. Thanks @scottyboy she (had eggs 😧) went 64cm. Not sure how to find / enter size or records on FishRaider - @mrsswordfisherman has told me in the past, but tried and got confused, so let it slip 🫤
  2. Buddy Steve and I had a session of Ben Buckler (60m mark), drifting for Flatties. I was using squid. Rig was 10kg braid, fb knot @10kg fluro leader to swivel, 10kg fluro dropper (4/0 Owner suicide hook) and no 4 snapper lead on bottom. I scored a PB butterfly Gurnard and sold 54cm Blue spot.
  3. Nice Kingie Dave (I’m jealous)
  4. I’ll give this a go Dave - might make salmon taste good
  5. Rosie and I were competing in the last Retrieving Trial for the season at Kanimbla, (we had a Big win on Saturday - All Age Championship). Talking with local farmers there are some good trout all along the river and lots of new hangouts since the floods have reorganised the banks and logs.

    Need some advice

Ha Ha @Fab1, I wouldn’t be worried about your outboard mate - you’ve got bigger problems.
  7. Wow @Bryant fish, you got a work over by the “officials”, (happens to me also from time to time.) Interesting because they have iPads with auto update of intel, so they can easily check what the other boats are doing. Water has been warm on top but cold underneath, even Barracoutta around at the moment.
  8. Super catch @whiskey299, Kingie would have towed you around a bit and a nice looking Mulloway 👍
  9. Outstanding result - earned by time, effort & perseverance.
  10. Nice feed Dave - did you find any blackfish?
  11. Wouldn’t it be great if all the little ones grew to be big ones (I reckon I get 100 under 50cm, for every one over 70).
  12. Annyeong @kantong, a big feed of sashimi mate - looks like you could feed the whole restaurant. Did you have the wrasse as sashimi also or was that cooked ? (Lovely white flesh). I loved a short visit in Korea (cold in Inchon in winter though). Did you get to Hallasan National Park? thanks for sharing.
  13. A meritorious catch @nutsaboutfishing, really well done👏👏Flatties always seem to fight better on lures than bait.
  14. Cheers Neil. All Jewies on prawns (off trawler passing by). Flatties on purple and black “Feral cat signature 5” and prawns, (Feral cat, slow trolled in 3-5m of water on mud flats) you know you’re always welcome here Neil.
  15. My buddy Steve was keen to try another river session (Derrubbin again) so we thought we’d brave the elements and ignore the weather report and target some Jewies and Flatties. Half the plan worked. We boated 14 Jewies, mostly around 45-60cm, but nothing over the magic 70cm mark. We also boated 6 Flatties and I landed a nice 58cm model (Mr Pickles just cooked it up and the one fish fed us both very adequately-yum). Steve also landed 2 very nice bream. HOWEVER the wind blew up (40kn or more) and the rain hit. Steve reminded me “they are only predictions and they’re more often wrong than right” - but they got it right today.😧 We put in at the new Wisemans ferry ramp ($8 and no wash down facility) about 6am and slow trolled along the mud banks / flats on the way to “the ripple grounds” under the overhead power lines (an awesome spot). I hooked up twice, but got thrown both times, one was a very solid fish, the other, probably a keeper, but without landing it, hard to say if reached 40cm (don’t keep them much below that). We fished light, me with - ugly stick 1-3 kg with 2500 spinning reel and Terez with 300 Daiwa. Both with 15lb braid and 12lb fluro leader. Rig was a sliding small (no3) snapper lead to the swivel, then from swivel 12lb leader to 2 snelled hooks. Top hook a 2/0 suicide and bottom hook a 5/0 Mustad big mouth (banana). The big mouth for a prawn, so that the barb protrudes where the prawns legs are and just under the head and the 2/0 I hook into the tail of the prawn. This keeps the prawn from sliding off the hook too easily and gives another point of contact with the fish, as Flatties, especially the big ones can saw through 12lb fairly easily. I usually replace the leader after each good fish as I don’t want to lose a good fish to line abrasion. Broken ribs held up pretty well and tea tasted great (thanks Mrs Pickles).

    Buying stuff

Got to agree with you Noel. The other thing that can be annoying is a (often disinterested) school kid (totally support kids having a job - think it should be part of our school curricula) who doesn’t know the product line to give advice, or worse doesn’t / won’t go looking to help. what a joy it is when the reverse happens.
  17. Well done @jaybez such a great fighting fish and in such numbers - a pity they don’t eat well 😖
  18. Next flounder I catch I’ll give the peeling and frying a go. Thanks @whiskey299, @Fried Rice and Mike
  19. Great report Dave - thanks. Have there been any jacks around lately? Or not warm enough yet?
  20. Yep with you mate - folks say they are great eating, but I only like to eat filleted, de-boned fish and hate mucking around with bones and don’t know how (if you can) fillet flounder.
  21. Great report Ian, great you caught up with Zoran at the ramp ( his taking a few decades off you it seems- XD251?). A really good effort on the Flatties - seem to be plenty around at present and you nailed ‘em and always sharing and caring with your info - well done. (We all know the pain / frustration of fish spitting the hook just at the boat).
  22. Brilliant report Zoran, (as always). Very glad to hear Maria is OK - anaphylaxis is no joke (my cousin died as a result), so glad to hear specialist is on it. Some really good Flatties there too make - some nice fillets for tea and whales as a bonus.👏👏.
