Basil D Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 so based on our last few trips we thought we will go for snapper again while the Iron was hot but decided to try another spot down the coast Called the Banks we finished our work Monday 1pm and Chris come over to my home 3pm, we got down the coast by 6pm , had dinner a few drinks and picked up a few things from the local supermarket we then bunkered down in the boat overnight before launching the boat before sunrise , we got to the area by 6.30am and the fish first was on the boat by 7am, from there we had 12 by 9am and the jackets moved in, we moved to deeper water and managed another 13 , we just kept letting them go and keeping out bag limit each, on the way back to the ramp we stopped and tried a couple of spots and the fish was still on, we just kept on releasing them , back at the ramp by midday, washed the boat and drove home with our big smiles Chris's wife met us at my home, she picked Chris up and all the gear including the kitchen sink LOL on my end i cooked four fish and gave one to the Neighbour, down to 5 fish now, i want to eat them as quick as possible just so i can go again, lol, I mean why not, The fish are on, go get them guys . 15
Pickles Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 (edited) Way to go @Basil D, you’ve certainly been braining the snapper. Love that smile on your dial - Gotta agree with “I want to eat them as quick as possible just so i can go again” - nothing better than fresh fish and you don’t know when the run will stop. I’ve got to say that in my experience this is the leanest time of year for fish (but snapper are more a by catch for me), maybe I need a master class on snapper from you or @Scratchie. Well done Basil.👏👏 Edited October 10, 2023 by Pickles Spelling 1

blairy69 Posted October 13, 2023 Posted October 13, 2023 Hi @Basil D - I am heading down to Greenwell Point in November - I assume you meant the Banks of Shoalhaven heads, it fished good last year this time as well, we got Kingy's as well last time, a couple of large Trevally. Just need to the weather to play ball over the 5 days we are there. - cheers and well done 1
Jiggy Posted October 13, 2023 Posted October 13, 2023 A little off topic, but the Banks used to be one of the prime yellowfin grounds back in the day when we had an inshore run of them. Great catch too well done. 1
