  1. Also, if after you remove the rod, the steering and cable move freely there is no need to replace the cable. Just clean and lube the tube and put it back. Get someone to put some pressure on the steering wheel while you tap the rod will help. Don't turn it overly hard or you will damage other stuff.
  2. They can get stuck pretty hard. You may have to give it some heavy blows. Clean out the inside of the tube after you take the rod all the way out. Check the motor and cable move freely on their own. If not then you have to look further into the problem.
  3. I always do and they seem fine. The odd squid dies for no reason but that happens anyway, yakka's or no yakka's.
  4. I know. Same with stainless bolts. Just saying you can make a screwdriver magnetic yourself.
  5. You know you can make any screwdriver magnetic or any piece of steel by rubbing a magnet over it a few times in the same direction.
  6. What a catch. That's the biggest I have seen caught around Sydney. Well done. I love the first picture where he is holding it up. Beautiful looking fish. I would have got more enjoyment setting it free then eating it as well.
  7. Hi Jim. Based on your descriptions I'm going to call it for a fuel blockage or restriction and I would say it's connected to something they worked on or changed. For example, fuel filter fitted incorrectly.
  8. Could have been some kind of revenge act. Not saying you done anything but some people like to key your car or whatever for some stupid reason they don't like about you or what you have done in the car park.
  9. You should take someone experienced with you to check it out. There are just way too many things that could possibly be wrong with it.
  10. It is a shame. It was convenient to pull out the catalogue, check if they had what you wanted then go down and get it. I think I will miss all the little bolts and bits in stainless the most.
  11. The live well could have possibly totally filled and over flowed into the boat.
  12. No, you shouldn't be getting that much water in there. It's coming in from a leak in the boat somewhere, bait pump set up, rain, water splashing in or kids secretly filling it up when you are not looking hahaha. You can disconnect the battery then fill the hull with water and check. Check hoses and fittings as well.
  13. If you store it outside, will it be in your yard where it is secured with a fence or something, or on the street? If it's somewhat secure get the bigger boat. You won't regret getting the better boat that's for sure. I've never thought about this because my boat is always stored in my garage, but the guys that store their boats on the street sure have things difficult. The gear you need to remove and replace each time would put me off owning a boat. Especially if you have expensive gear like batteries, sounders, gps, minn kota etc. I prefer a painted boat as unpainted kinda looks a bit unfinished to me. Just personal preference. Fab your rig still looks like you picked it up yesterday. Well taken care of....
  14. I would try some better hooks. I don't like Mustad hooks. They are not as sharp as a VMC or Gamakastsu baitholders. Maybe your bait size is a bit big for the fish to get it into their mouths.
  15. I bought the Cal's purple one once to try and it was full of specks of hard bits. Done some research and other people were complaining as well. I would stay away from them. I'm now using Daiwa General purpose light grease. Its a good consistency compromise for light turning of the reel and protection. Can be ordered through them. Has the white lid on it. Super Lube is good as well. It's a bit lighter again if you like your reels really free spinning. I use it on bearings.
  16. That's gold. So simple and you can write on the outside what each one is.
  17. I was going to say why are you bothered with that little bit peeling in the picture. If you want to make it look a bit better I would lightly sand just that area then carefully mist it over with white spray paint or even a brush touch up will do, it's a small area compared to the whole thing. It will eventually come back like the others said.
  18. The left wheel is over hanging for sure. Can't tell properly how the left hand side at the back is supported. There are some kind of ramps loaded in above the rear lights that may possibly be used to get it on and off? Funny picture either way real or fake.
  19. I use the clinch or half blood knot. You should have at least about 25kg knot strength with 100lb line. As long as your not using hard fluorocarbon it will tie easily. I use Moimoi, Jinkai or Black Magic. Also, make sure it has a good size (split) ring on it and tie around the part where the wire is doubled over, not the single wire section. A few reasons for this. It keeps the knot away from the sharp edges of the wire. It will stop the ring unwinding under pressure and the thicker section makes a stronger knot.
  20. Still working normal for me. It's my favourite feature too.
  21. I don't really know the place but I know it's been brought up on here many times. Maybe you can try the search function.
  22. That sounds ok mate just put a fuse in the cigarette socket wiring as close as possible to the battery.
  23. I don't think I'll bluff him, I should just shame him anyway as it looks like he's a regular at bending the truth to make a sale. Can't do these things on this site though and that's fair enough too, but we can speak to people about our experiences. These kinds of shops think they are making more sales by acting like this but long term it hurts them more. Same goes with shops that don't refund on change of mind. They think they are loosing money by refunding and short term they are, but long term it keeps customers positive and coming back, encouraging others to visit as well. This makes a lot more dollars in the long run. Look at all the biggest well known shops around. They are the most successful and they all refund without any problem. Other businesses should take note. The few times I've been in there it's always dead of customers. Even on weekends! My local which is an excellent tacklo and I think the best in Sydney, has customers flooding in every day of the week! And they refund....
  24. I'm gonna try thanks. That was my first thought! No I'm not a regular customer at this place. I will go and politely explain my situation and ask for a refund but I cant see him agreeing to give back over $400 that I paid. I'm going to try anyway as it looks like that is my only option. Thanks guys
  25. I use the sand anchor like in my picture above and it works heaps good. Like Paikea said, don't just toss it over. Lower it down. Over reef I don't anchor at all. Drift or Minn Kota. Prevents alot of headaches.
