  1. Is this for general transport OR the actually travelling by plane for a trip?? I think the neoprene's are ok if you are just going fishing but for an extended trip like a camping/fishing type trip or an overseas trip& would want something more rugged. Not sure what Bunnings 'plastic container' you are referring to but I have a couple of these that are tough as- Craftright 465 x 360 x 175mm Safe Case There is also a bigger 515 x 435 x 225mm Large Safe Case if you intend taking larger reels or more reels. For the money they are fantastic & you can also make a compartment to keep accessories as well so its all together. Also they are- Water proof, air tight, dustproof and quake proof Heavy duty safe case Lockable Ideal for storing important documents or expensive tools Just cut the already perforated segments to suit the exact shape of the reels
  2. You had a great success out of trying circumstances so well done on that. Those look so cool & remind me of my days of working in the NSW ski fields. You will quite often fund large trout of different species on the down side of bridge footings & in multiples, behaving a bit like Mulloway or even Barra in waiting for something to come past. Love the Tassie devil but not in those kind of streams. Used to dabble with the fly as well but once again, its all abut the accessibility, I'm sure you just enjoyed being out in the country? It could be worse
  3. Just like you should be able to end your own life or your loved one via euthanasia if you decide to?? We reserve the right to be able to contest laws but if the number are against it in the legislation then there is no choice & the terms are being dictated to you unfortunately which is what governments do, this is modern life. There will always be difference of opinion in any changes to laws & your vote goes to what side of the fence you are sitting on. The effort of this bloke as an individual to contest this is his right & we are lucky to be able to even do this here in this place we call home as other people in other places of the world could be carted for even contesting the issue. Signing off on this one now & hope this guys efforts are quashed as we need to think about the bigger picture rather than 1 individual.
  4. Any word from the shipping operating company on actual efforts to combat the physical pollution rather that saying we will pay for it?? Getting your hands dirty with the locals would show you actually mean something in your statements rather than saying we will give money to aid the clean up effort. Suing them for the costs is how it will be in the end anyway!
  5. Hi Benny, I don't fish the harbour myself as my tinny is to small but there are always plenty of posts in fishing reports on people catching SH kings. Can I suggest you do a search of previous post using the search tool bar, just type in Sydney Kings & see what you find. Also there is some info to be had by using google.
  6. You have thrown a lot of scenario's out there but what are the statistics?? When you find out after the fact that the percentage of the survival rate is higher for someone wearing a PFD will you still have the same argument? Its easy to contest something but its the numbers that tell the truth so let it go & see what those the actual truth of the matter is! As I was implying earlier, laws are not made for individuals but for the masses for a reason, the general publics safety. Another scenario, I would like to have a semi auto rifle in my safe & don't see any reason why I shouldn't be allowed one seeing as I am a law abiding citizen & licensed firearms owner. So why am I not allowed to own a semi automatic rifle?? For the general publics safety regardless of me being able to provide assurances that I am ok & worthy of having one! Ok I am anti that rule but understand where it comes from, rules are rule so get used to it!!!!!
  7. Just heard about this but unfortunately have things to do. Hope you guys enjoy the snags & the chin wag. Berala eh, very close to my old stomping grounds, went to Birrong boys!
  8. Diawa monster mesh would be my pick for the rod. https://daiwafishing.com.au/products/monster-mesh-max/ I'm not sure on current models but I have a sealine bull 4500 coupled with mine. Pretty much unbreakable imo
  9. Species like bream that frequent the spots you are at are pretty cagey critters & you have to out smart them. You could try unwanted baits like peeled prawns making sure the bail arm is open & there is no resistance on the line because if they feel an resistance on the take they will drop it. Let the line run for a bit before you strike. Also lures like vibes, small SP's like bloodworm/prawn wrigglers with small jig heads can also produce. You don't have to always use bait! Hope this helps
  10. Maybe report it to local police so they can trace the owner
  11. Maybe try an aerator, if they are like bait fish the need that to keep alive. I use a little battery operated aerator & it works for yakka's etc.
  12. That's a great tip Mrs.S, thank you. As I think you are aware from previous discussions I used to be an administrator of another Aussie site & that's exactly what I used to do as well to monitor all posts but didn't know where or how to access the same thing here. I have just changed my opening page to 'unread content' & marked site read so I can start fresh from now on
  13. 'General' rules or laws are made for the 'general' publics safety for a reason, its no different to say cyclists having to wear a helmet or having to wear a jacket if you are on a boat solo. But we are lucky enough to live in a democracy so its our right to contest something the disagree about. Personally I don't see why this fella has an issue with this as others may not be as good at a recovery situation as he is & you do have the option of deploying the lifejacket or not as conditions suit so swim away from the rocks then deploy! Imo, just put it on mate
  14. Cheers Mrs.S, to be honest I think you could almost have this in almost every section because for example I have fishing reports come up with a group of pages when my browser opens & rarely visit the other topic section pages on the sight. Anyway thanks for leaving it up
  15. Not really sure if this is in the right spot but if not maybe the Mods can move it to the best place for more exposure. Just in case you haven seen the news this morning- http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-06-01/83-shipping-containers-tumble-from-cargo-ship-off-nsw-coast/9825950
  16. Nice work Joe, I like the look of those squidgy prawns, think I will have to pick some up to try
  17. I love fishing with artificials as much as possible but of course you have to match it to the mood of the fish so bait is my 2nd choice depending on the target species. Also just on the plastic, like if you are fishing with bait you have to change it up to what the species like so shape & colour matter. If I cant get a bite on one colour I change it till I find what works then if that doesn't work I will change the style & go through that process again. Still I am sure you had an enjoyable day, especially watching your daughter pull in a great fish like that. #proud dad
  18. Thanks for that. Went out today armed with sh*t loads of burley, as in a pilchard log, 2kg pilchards & even stuff I had saved in the freezer from my last trip, caught livies & still came up with zip. Anchored east of the cans for about 1.5hr, anchored & at molly for about 1.5hrs & anchored at 3rd runway for about 1.5 hrs. Oh well, that's fishing Nice day out there though but nothing around, water temp was 17 so may be the reason or I'm just out of luck with being there at the right time. Anyway that's my fishing in the bay done till after winter but I will keep trying as one day my luck has to change
  19. Thanks mate, been all over the place trying for a kingie but I think its one of those right place right time things in the bay, this time I am going to use a similar strategy & anchor up & spent some time there with heaps of burley. Wednesday looks like the day weather wise Cheers for the info
  20. Care to share the approx. area where you were anchored up? I'm heading out early next week & would like to target kings doing the same thing.
  21. That's a stonka Baz, just catching one fish like that would make the whole trip worthwhile. I looked at going to Perth once for a trip Sampson fishing out of Hillary's but bought a new motor & gear for my Tinny instead, still on the bucket list though Thanks for sharing
  22. Couldn't be disappointed with that lot
  23. Have to admit that Foreshore rd is the last pace I would launch from on any weekend day. Its just the way my roster works but I really enjoy the bay when I get a day off from Monday to Thursday as there is no one or no agro around. Surprised you didn't do some trolling on either side of the heads for Kings as this is the 1st thing I would do if I have an ocean going boat before heading deeper. I have been on a few charters south of port hacking before Coalcliff that produced some nice flatties but then again catching anything up to 80cm is pretty common inside botany bay so I don't really go on charters anymore for that reason. Good to see you came home with a feed anyway
  24. Hi Raiders, had a chance to head outside for a fish which for me is pretty rare & also have a catch up with a mate I hadn't seen for a while. Saturday afternoon was a cracker, very little wind until late in the day when it picked up & again there in the morning which was unfortunate as we were going to head out to the 'banks' which I was really looking forward to but no go . Sunday went to all of my mates close in marks & got a few just legal snapper & plenty of nice flatties, went to another spot & I though I was onto a 5kg+ snapper but when I finely got it to the top it was a biggest squid I have ever seen in the flesh, caught it in the point of the body with one hook while there was a sweep on the other, I figure I had caught the sweep & it was trying to make a meal of it. Still a great weekend although I was hoping for a bit of wide out action. Sunday night salt & pepper squid with enoki & Asian green salad, cant get any fresher
