  1. The whole channel has some amazing things to watch on it. I really have to get myself one of these! Enjoy
  2. Its not a easy thing to get right & be food safe at the same time which is why the use of salt & nitrates are so widely used in the process & imo you also need a controlled environment as well if air drying. Its the main reason I stick to salt/sugar curing & hot/cold smoking most of the time. When any protien isnt treated right it can deadly!
  3. I bet you wish you still had it now, would be worth a 10 times the new price if still original & in prestine nic.
  4. Thats because its a fish(like many others E.g Albacore/bonito) thats very hard to get to market then to the table in prime condition & they are at there best just on the day or the next! If commercial fisho's were to take the time to kill/bleed/ice straight away then it would have a better chance but that would be to time consuming & expensive for what essentually is a cheap sale price fish.
  5. It's like the old saying ignorance is no excuse in the eyes of the law. I think what your describing is occurring less & less these days to the point where it would equal some sort of leniency to English 1st language person. Law enforcement, fisheries, boarder force, maratime etc imo do not see language as an excuse these says. There is enough literature & internet information around now that it's zero tolerance for everyone.
  6. Nice work. There are plenty of ways of preserving fish for later consumption. Being a 1st world country I think in general we take it for granted as we have an abundance of many species & weather is on our side but in many countries/cultures they arent so lucky. Smoked(cold & hot) Salt/sugar cured Dehyrated Preserved(self made tinned fish) Even vacuum sealed & frozen are just few ways we can be eating our catch some 12 months after catching it. Im interested to hear how it goes for you.
  7. Now that ingenuity & much cheaper than lead 😁 And more eco friendly to lead!
  8. Nice work Zoran & Wayno . Do you ever try the peak on the way back or waste of time to you or wrong direction or to crowded?? Just curious.
  9. Nice result 👌 About the split ring, the split ring is actually attached to the hook so no idea why there was another one that is a smaller gauge? The bent one doesn't even look like it's steel
  10. My father bought his last house in Sydney for 120K then sold it for 900K, & even then they knocked it down & rebuilt so it was a 520Sqm bit of dirt for 900K 😱 Crazy to think how someone is going to be able to get into the housing market in Sydney now & as time goes on if you dont have 2 or 3 incomes?
  11. PM sent. Will be interesting to see if this gets passed as its 35 meters higher than any other biulding in the area. Maybe you can make sence of it?
  12. Nice work as usual Yowie. Its my mission to get a legal snapper & whiting in PH this year 😄
  13. Its being classed as a boarding house so I presume it classified differently? This what I have been told by the action group & I have looked at the DA & cant actually find the car paring provision just going on what I have been told but they are only allowing 1 motorcycle spot per 7.62 rooms. If you want to look into it go ahead be my guest I can send you the DA # 😉😉 Sorry Derek, didnt mean to get your thread off track!
  14. I feel for you & your sutuation Derek & Im sure your not alone. Unfortunately I dont think its going to get better but much worse, worse for areas in Sydney that there are less restrictions currently. Parking all over Sydney is such a sort after thing & also has become a lucrative business for councils which in itself is BS. E.g There is a building being proposed by Randwick council next door to me that they want to build 19 stories high, the current zoning limit is 7 stories, not only that in the proposal they have only allocated 9 parking spots to this building, YES you read right 9 parking spots for a 400 people apartment block. So where is everyone going to park in a location where there already is not enough parking currently for residents?? So essentiall someone palm in council will be getting greased & hand movements under the table to get this through! If I can liken this to say someone who owns a pet, due to their love of wanting to own them they will move to a location or style of housing just so they can have them-Eg home over an apartment. It seems like the only real solution here?? I'll tell you something, Im over it to!! Im over Sydney all together & as soon as financially possible I am out of this place!
  15. If its a TX(UHF) your using then you wont be able to contact marine rescue or other boats for that matter, fact!! UHF is a different frequency to VHF so the 2 cant talk to each other! I think you need to gets your facts straight before posting incorrect information @Rebel. Of course if you want to take out a UHF radio on the water to talk to another boater who you know has a UHF radio then depending on conditions you could talk to them but as mentioned if you want to get rescued then no one in another boat or marine rescue will be listeneing. All I am doing is just stating the facts dude
  16. While GME radio's are great quality & Australian made TX model radio's are all UHF not VHF. If you want GME VHF marine radio your looking at the GX models.
  17. JB weld or Devcon plastic steel is what I use for small holes, some on both sides. Just make sure you sand the area a bit & clean it well with metho before applying. Very hard to alloy weld spots on plates, actually near impossible I'd say, would probably make the hole bigger? Id still use the JB or DC even on a larger hole but would consider using a small alloy plate on each side to reinforce the hole, especially if it was in an area that was under a bit of force from water pressure.
  18. If it's had the tick of approval then get out & enjoy it
  19. Just to add if you were fishing with a 6 x 6/0 hook paternoster rig then I would say busted. But Sabiki bait rig, I'd like to see them prosecute that as long as what your catching is legit
  20. If I was booked on this then I wouldn't be paying fine & I would be seeing them in court 😉
  21. What's it say next line down or the 3rd line? Rod/ hand jigging line 1 rod or handline with up to 6 single hooks with lures attached #
  22. ??? Please share the regulation/rules on this because you are incorrect!
  23. They work but but being land based would make it a but harder to fish with them. I usually break them down into 2 & make 2 x 3 hook rigs out of them as 6 hooks can be a pain at times. Imo battery aerators work fine, I use one in my tinny & use a simple clear storage tub, keeps up to 10 yakka's alive for 4-6 hours. I have also started to use a chum/berley cage as the line weight, attracts the fish as well as using berley.
