  1. It makes you warm & fuzzy inside when you see nature doing their thing & when you can capture it & have the memory its very rewarding!
  2. Now I am trying to lock something else in for September trying to pivit around this date & organising other people into that date. At then end of the day we just dont want a repeat of the last trip which the weather event didnt present till about 4 days out. Life is a juggle, it is what it is & its not going to suit everyone. I just hope the stars align & I can do both but if not something has to give😬 Such a hard thing to arrange for the masses but appreciate what your doing Jeff! Mind you Im not going end up in the divorce court if I let either party down 🤣
  3. Drive by wire has been around for a while now & is available on things like motorcycles, cars, & according to this Mercury have been using it since 2010 https://www.mercuryracing.com/go-digital-drive-by-wire/ Its all relative, the person who won the 80 Mil powerball last night is probably now looking over what super yatch they are buying & probably be using that Yammy as a tendor 🤣 Be nice eh!
  4. Apart from having already done my research the 1st thing I do when I go to a new town/destination is go to the tackle store, buy some bait or some SP's & have a chat to the guy's in the store & ask what has been happening & take their advice on board then just give it a bash based of that. Local knowledge is best knowledge.
  5. In other words, just get out there & have a go dude! You cant catch a fish by typing on your computer!! Mean time have a look at this thread, it could give you some tips, it not on location at least with technique. Good luck.
  6. When you make the actual effort & catch one can you let the rest of us know please 😜
  7. Couple of great feeds there, well done
  8. No problem, there's is some great info in these pages 👍 Make sure you let us know about your fishing adventure 👌👌
  9. Missed that, should have gone to spec savers Actually didnt have my glasses on so sort of skipped over it & mainly looked at the picture 🙄
  10. Nice report as usual. The flesh looks great once you get rid of the bloodline. Are you measuring any of these salmon? Some look like they could go close to a forum record?
  11. Welcome aboard. Always pays to use the search tab for info. https://www.fishraider.com.au/search/?&q=Norfolk&search_and_or=or
  12. Mate we all have our own little idiosyncrasy's, whether we think it brings us luck or for any other reason. Im not a superstitious person but I know of quite a few sports people who are, like Steve Waugh with is red hanky. At the end of the day if it works for you then that's all that counts
  13. I just heard that every K-mart/Target & Lowes within a 200km radius of Port Stephens have sold out of green singlets, I know this because Im trying to buy one now 🤔🤣 I only just listened to the podcast & there are some fantastic tips in there, one in particular that stuck with me from our first meeting with scratchie up at PS & that was about not driving over the fish to your drift start point & changing the start of your drift point to scan the whole area, I have been using that ever since! The other is the jighead size being the light as possible. Thanks for sharing your passion & knowledge Jeff. Looking forward to catching up in September
  14. Mono deteriorates with exposure to UV & absorbs water so it doesn't age well. Plus its cheap as chips now. If the plastics are in opened they should still be ok. Open the plastics packets, if they are still in one piece & haven't disintegrated or gone stiff as a board then use then, just make sure they still have action.
  15. That's rad. Will be eagerly reading for some great tips & also great to actually have the connection
  16. No mate, talking about the alloy ribs that keep the plastic on..........................hang on they might be actually be called keepers 🤣 mental blank 🙄
  17. Nice, could be a record on SP @mrsswordfisherman?? Still no reason to cover up that frown on your face with the fish mate 🤣
  18. Welcome aboard riz. Just keep at it, learn more about different bait rigs & also how to use soft plastics. The biggest thing is to try & understand that different species need to be fished differently. Tidal times & other factors also have an effect on different fish, some prefer live bait like worms or nippers but will also take other baits like prawns or pipi's. Lots of info in here to look at, just try the search tab & you will find some great info, even on your area!! Half of fishing is about the research of both the fish, their surroundings & the rig/gear to catch them.
  19. I noticed the other day I was forward casting a lot with a paddle tale to get to the depth in the drift & I was catching the tail in the hook on occasions. So yes I had a lot of slack line & probably a large hook size to jighead which caused this. Imo even with slack line if your plastic isnt rigged straight on its going to react differently every time. I have also noticed with some of these newer soft plastics now being so dam soft they are a PITA to push forward square into the jighead past the grabby things(whatever they are called 🙄) they are hard to keep perfectly aligned.
  20. You can learn to do anything given enough time. We are lucky we live in the age of youtube & the internet so there is a mass of info out there. You just have to find the right source & look at multiple sources. Find a manual if you can to work off Unless you have some prior service history first thing I would do is change fuel filter, water pump(get the whole kit), change gear oil(you need an oil pump), check your spark plugs If at the end of the day if your not confident then you will need to anti up for the cost of a trade professional. The only problem with that is finding a trade professional that actually cares about what they do which can be the hardest thing. I trust mechanics & repairer's about as far as I can throw them these days I think I can more often than not do the same job, actually a better job on most occasions! Its all a learning curve 😉
  21. Just be aware that during these times you have to book to do just about anything! https://tourism.lithgow.com/lake-wallace/
