  1. Yep, screw on a small battery box to the back with 12v 20ah battery & some 12V Led strips & its fishing party time 😁
  2. Its a generic term for juvenile fish. Its a term usually used by Americans but not specific to the USA
  3. Nothing like having a big tank while the fuel prices are the way they are at the moment!! But it sucks in the reverse! Im sure the price will go through the roof again before I get the chance to do some trips in my 4x4 😏 Your cruiser sounds like its set up to do some long outback hauls, done some off the beaten track travels with it?
  4. That's GOLD I love the way peoples minds work in DIY's. What doesn't work get improved. I recon you could travel with a cheap Bunnings plastic tub inside it with the ice ect when you get there you pull that out & that becomes the live tank & have a the esky for the fish/lunch/beers πŸ˜‰ I bought a $7 Bunnings plastic tub & turned it into my live well in my tinny. Drilled a hole in the top to pass the aerator tube through with a grommet seal & then ran some light foam around the edge to seal the top. It works & it cost me $7 😁 Now all you need to do is put a motor on it πŸ˜‚πŸ€£
  5. Good catch Zoran, you wouldn't want to come across that 30km off the coast! Not sure about your definition of a pin hole though, to me that just looks like hole, I don't think it would stop if I put a pin in it πŸ€¨πŸ˜… Thanks a heads up on that material, I use Devcon liquid steel for a metal repairs & once it hardens it is literally is like steel but not sure how exposure to fuel would affect it?
  6. @bluefin!!!!!! What part of what I am saying is complete rubbish???? Ok, while yellow is daylight low light situations like overcast conditions yellow will help give more definition & at night time reduce glare but they wont help you if there is no light. What part of what I am saying is rubbish???? Sounds like your the self acclaimed professor when it comes tonight vision. Maybe you should be working for the military πŸ™„
  7. Sometime you also just want to measure a fish to see if you have beaten your PB as well frank, well that's if you care about that sort of thing I guess 😏
  8. Looking at it frank 250 is huge, I get it that's its for bigger fish but I recon 150/200 would still do the job for most.
  9. You might be right there, I'd eat orange roughy any day & that's another perch species. And that's dog ugly as well
  10. I saw that tool when I was doing my research but wasn't really impressed with how the knot is formed by simply winding down & up then finishing. I mean it might bind but I personally like the way when using the Daiichiseko tool you actually weave the leader through the braid. But I do incorporate the uni he is doing at the end of your video to finish of my FG after I have done a couple of alternate twisting half hitches each way.
  11. I have off break walls & from inside bays etc but not so much off open water rock but I done see why not. Some of the issues would be what the bottom is like at a location, if it rocky or really weedy then your going to lose gear. If the wind is in your face that your cast distance will be significantly reduced. The way I see it is if your not getting a bite using a particular method then changing things up could make the difference between going home empty handed or not.
  12. I have quite a few boxes of same/similar vintage hooks I got from dads gear. I don't think I will ever use the as most of the fish I target are bigger than a tadpole 😁 Still I think the boxes are cool
  13. I had my practice run so when does the real comp start 🀣
  14. It's almost like pipe that size would be for major builds or works. Ive done a few diy projects out of 100 x 150mm but never seen anything of that size unless it's part of some sort of road works or similar. Nice idea though. It's a bit like high density foam. Its exy as well & I needed some for a project but didn't want to spend $60 on it & finally picked up a 1m square cushion piece out of a pile junk waiting for collection from the garbo's. For what I wanted to cut it up for I was happy to be a scab to save $60 😁 Washed, sanitised & cut up to go into a storage case you didn't really care who sat on it.
  15. Those glare glasses your referring may well be of good use is some form depending on your location like harbour or river fishing where there is a lot of lights reflecting off the waters surface. Even in that circumstance even both thermal & digital NV has some limitations as they are designed to work in virtual total darkness. Good luck
  16. The only real way to see at night is with proper night vision gear either digital or thermal & is very expensive. Anything else would imo just be a gimmick. Pretty much at most the glasses which I think you are referring to are to cut down on glare from lighting.
  17. You just need to define your question a bit. If this for cutting down on glare from other surround lighting or for actually seeing in the dark?
  18. If I'm going to do it that way then I'd be using dacron leader material over the rubber band. I guess it is old school to put the hook through the back of the head or through the beak these days
  19. I'm presuming in the bay is referring to inshore botany bay right?
  20. Id love to come with you @Joeyd but social distancing rules wont allow it for now. Raincheck on another time in the near future maybe. The current rules make it hard for anyone other that family members of the same household to in such close contact! Nice looking rig by the way
  21. Hook though just behind the head above he spine, keeps them alive & the kings go for the head so instant hook up πŸ‘
  22. Don't need to use bands or bridle unless your doing higher speed trolling. No need to over complicate things here James!
