  1. He would love it too Rick! That’s time of year I could almost guarantee to stretch his arms ?
  2. BN, please hit me up next time you come this way! If it’s in February, Port Stephens is on fire that time of year! I’ll be more than happy to have you stay for a night or two! We might even catch a few fish! Lol ? cheers scratchie!!!
  3. I use the same lock and when I’m leaving the trailer attached to the car for a prolonged period of time, you can use the higher setting to lock it to the car tow ball. Great system! Cheers scratchie!!!
  4. Good to see someone catching something yowie! Definitely a feed for a few families there! Well done ? cheers scratchie!!!
  5. I was in the 20ft Edgewater that was drifting behind you! Then you went to north rock and we came around as well. Very quiet day ?
  6. My theory on this is that your trying to make the lure as natural as possible! The jig head you are using is just as important if not more so than your leader. With regards to the diameter of the leader, this combined with the jig will have a certain resistance in the water depending on tide and current. Whilst only a small change in size it will still have an impact on the presentation of the lure. Just my theory but it works for me! Cheers scratchie!!!
  7. Were you in a black and white boat?
  8. Great stuff BN! There are some truly great fishraiders out and these 3 guys are no exception! Fishing wise, you probably picked the worst month to catch fish but nothing beats getting a line wet with good company. Cheers scratchie!!!
  9. Sorry baz! I hope that’s all the bad luck you have now! If you are looking for a fishing bud on Mondays just let me know, I have every Monday off! ?
  10. Looks good! Just put a hockey strap around them and they won’t go anywhere! Cheers scratchie!!!
  11. Awesome fun in summer! My best success was at old bar with almost a fish a cast. Sugarpens or 45mm poppers with a trailing white feather did the damage! Mid falling tide was best! Cheers scratchie!!!
  12. Perfect eating size! Nice fish! Cheers scratchie!!!
  13. Some real scumbags around rick!
  14. Agh baz! I already have a mate I call B1. I think this puts you in the B2 category! ? Theres no fish at Broughton anyway. Was there on Friday in nearly 2m swell, perfect for snapper and only managed 4 just legal with best probably 45cm. Worst effort in ages! Water still super cold and no bait anywhere! At least you’ll get the boat sorted now and you saved today on fuel. I also just seen the ocean and it looks pretty choppy! Cheers scratchie!!!
  15. Wouldn’t be eating any fish your unsure of. But yes it is a pearl perch! Chicken of the sea! They do venture down Sydney and have caught them here in Port Stephens but are more prolific from Coffs to the north! Cheers scratchie!!!
  16. Nice work Craig! It’s always when the fish are on that someone feels sick! Damn! At least he’s all smiles at the end. Cheers scratchie!!!
  17. If you are trying to ask for one combo that would cover the lot? My pick would be 30lb braid and 40lb leader! Use afg or improved Albright knot. If you get dusted on that, then you’ve lost a good fish! ? cheers scratchie!!!
  18. I’d head to the Hawkesbury. Plenty of flatties moving through the system and a chance of a Jew in the well known spots! But best of all, just get out there! Cheers scratchie!!!
  19. Some good advice from rick and paddyT. That term to me, is all about the current. The wind and tide will generally set your drift, depending on your location but the current is important for reef fishing! In my experience, I generally noticed bait stick harder to the structure and closer together with more current. The “no run, no fun” goes in hand with “find the bait, find the fish”. Current will also determine what side of structure the bait sits on. This is also worth noting in your travels. Sometimes it will sit at the front and then others times the rear depending on the strength! Cheers scratchie!!!
  20. Good luck with the bar! Pretty tricky at times. Just remember, if you commit, there ain’t no turning back! Exit on left hand side and come back in same side!
  21. I like it! Especially if it’s getting you and the family out there enjoying yourselves! I understand the back breaking work of carrying everything for kids etc! Good on you! Cheers scratchie!!!
  22. Welcome to fishraider! Try using the search function on this site to access the information you require. There is also a gps marks section that members have access to! Regards scratchie mod team
  23. Well, considering the amount of people that swim in the area of Port Stephens daily, multiply that by ten years and only one shark biting! Your odds of enjoying your swim are pretty good! ?
