Nice work as always Yowie! I have get into the offshore flatty option soon!
  3. Larkin ate you on a yellow JetSki?
  4. Another great post Kingfish! bad luck on the pulled hold but the fish you landed is a cracker!
  5. Headed out this arvo for a squid bash outside the Hacking but the nor east breeze was whipping up a swell that was coming over my bow so I turned back in shore. Had a quick go for squid inside the port but no chockies so I pumped a few nippers at low tide and picked up a couple of 40+ whiting as the tide turned. Fair result and the fish are cleaned and ready for a meal this week.
  6. Couldn’t have said it better🤪 That should get you a few reds Larkin!
  7. Great post Adamski! some nice fish there and good to see DPI out and about. A few years ago when kayak fishing under one of the bridges there I came across some illegal crab traps holding a couple of 1kg + muddies! I called DPI and they came down to collect the traps👌
  8. What a trip Kobi! great pics and a huge range of species!
  9. Amazing result on the flatties at this time of year…. Congrats 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
  10. Now that’s how you finish’s fishing trip 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
  11. A good feed there Yowie, plenty of sweet fillets and some sashimi too! You must have been rugged up🥶
  12. Great post Phil! what an experience for you and some magnificent fish caught! definitely on my bucket list🙏🏻
  13. Headed out yesterday for a quick arvo fish on the run out. Pumped some nippers and tried the flats but my electric motor had a flat battery so I lost my stealth mode. Only picked up a couple of whiting with the bigger one just over 40. Pretty quiet on the water and lots of weed and rubbish floating by....still good to get out for an hour! Looks like another tragic weather week coming up so who knows when the next outing will be😪
  14. Feeding 7 people with whiting tacos tonight:) Perfect origin 3 meal:)
  15. Anywhere from 1-6 feet Yep last time I was out out could see the kelp and boulders on the bottom in 25 feet, not yesterday! Thanks My mate set up a small stinger hook to keep the nipper straight and it worked well but I think we pulled the hooks too early when striking on a few...in warmer times they inhale the nippers and I'm pulling the hooks out of their guts! Always good eating:) Cheers It was a magic day weather wise, no wind and no boats!
  16. Headed out into the Hacking in what looked like the only decent day forecast tis week after a horror week prior. Took a mate our in search of a few whiting then an afternoon on the squid. Launched at the bottom of the tide and found plenty of flotsam in the water... I had to veer suddenly a few times to avoid running over a decent log or two! Collected some nippers then fished the flats for a few nice whiting in the high 30s and just as many dropped good fish for some reason. Decided to head out to Jibbon for some squid but the water was pretty murky and no inkers could be raised. My mate hooked a barracuda for some fun that self-released boatside. Headed back in to the Maianbar flats for couple more smaller whiting and back to the ramp at 5 with a feed at least. At least a few decent whiting hanging around in the cooler water:)
  17. Yowie Your quiet day normally puts most of us to shame! Glad you got a few tings and I hope your injury improves in time for the next jewy!
  18. I agree with the ice packs and/or frozen bottles but I know that keeping fish away from tap water also improves the eating quality. When I clean fish or squid I only use salt water or paper towels as tap I've noticed the chlorine in tap water starts 'cooking' the flesh by turning it from opaque to white. If i freeze whiting or flathead fillets in a zip lock bag after being cleaned in salt water, they defrost as fresh as when first filleted and taste great, same with squid hoods.
  19. Ouch, hope you recover quickly, at least you're not missing out on anything atm. I just went out to Cronulla to watch the floundering tanker being towed south just off the main beach (you'll have to zoom in)....a couple of tugs ready to help out if things get worse....we might have a new wreck to fish on if things get any nastier!
  20. Wow, big trip in the recent weather! a brace of good eating fish and I’m sure there will be more once the weather improves!
  21. You are getting some regular reds Larkin, persistence is paying off and nice bi-catch!
  22. Botany Bay, normally Bare Island area or opposite at Kurnell Thanks Larkin i usually dispatch them and put them on ice….I went back to that method after the escape🤪 They are smarter than your average fish! Glad I got a feed before the chocolate fountain started up again😫
  23. Nice work! Good to see those little mullos in the system, let's hope there are 50000 all growing fast. Cracking trevor too!
  24. Great mixed bag and a nice whiting!
