I suspected that today would be good for fishing, not to mention the last opportunity, if we get more flooding rain. This morning I headed to Narrandera to wet a line. The river was running quite fast, a sure sign that the authorities are sending heaps out from the dams because they know there's more coming. I haven't fished this area for ages. First we had drought, then closed season, then floods. The Cod were feeding really well and I lost count of how many I caught. I know there was a small Trout Cod. Two Cod were "keeper" size but they went back in as well as the undersized ones. The river was a partial mystery to me. The floods had loaded the waters up with stacks of new trees...complete trees which are now embedded in the river for the fish to inhabit. Some of my old favourites were inaccessible and new areas were abundant. As always I take plenty of photos of likely spots for future exploration. Here are some pics of the day. This is all new, from the floods A good flow in the river... Lastly, a small Trout Cod

frankS
Great to see you got the boat in the water at last. Nice to see some fish landed and a couple of legal sized ones among them. Once this rain eases off I'm sure the river will settle down and you will have plenty of new snags to cast at. I'm betting there is plenty of bacteria in that carpet , might be time for a re-fit. Looks like we won't have the usual low water as Winter approaches this year, so the fishing may be good for quite a while. Let me know if you fancy a trip down here, you're always welcome. Hope you and Val are well. Neil

The best results I have experienced on the Murrumbidgee was 27 Cod/Trout Cod in 1.5 hrs. I was fishing several kms upstream of the boat ramp when an afternoon storm started heading toward me. I knew I was in for a soaking as it was between me and the boat ramp. Had no other choice than to continue fishing and that was the outcome. I was dripping wet when I finally got back to the ramp, but didn't care. It was worth it for the crazy window of opportunity. bn

It certainly is, and it's just about to start firing again as the water levels drop to somewhere near normal levels. Watch this space as I intend getting among them again later this week. bn
