Hugh Posted July 22, 2022 Posted July 22, 2022 (edited) So I’m not a regular poster but I know my mate Bob would be disappointed if I didn’t post this. Im one of those guys who loves fishing but not very good. I’ve spent hours and hours on the water chasing the dream but coming up with not much more than a 2 inch bream. With all the torrid weather of late, and work restructures and other fun stuff I took the family down to Jervis bay for a few days. It rained most of the time. But that didn’t stop us. I couldn’t get out wide in the tinny with the weather, and the rain was generally relentless. After taking the whole crew out (including the wife and two young girls) today and getting drenched, we went home but knew the day wasn’t done. In the afternoon the rain stopped for a few hours, my 10 year old fish-nut son and I snuck down from our place at Huskisson to Currambene creek. At the top of the tide, we hit a purple patch getting a stack of flatty, the biggest at 61cm with another 4 between 40-50. Then, I got my first Jew on lure, after countless lessons from my mate Sam. Biggest was 47, and one just a bit smaller. Still waiting on the magic legal lure Jew. The Bream were on too. On the way home Theo declared it our best estuary day yet. Isaac Ct Posted July 22, 2022 Posted July 22, 2022 Great report mate, well done. Some nice looking flatties in there. Beautiful bream and Jew as well.
jenno64 Posted July 22, 2022 Posted July 22, 2022 Amazing result on the flatties at this time of year…. Congrats 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Little_Flatty Posted July 22, 2022 Posted July 22, 2022 That's a really good session Hugh. It's great your family will join you, and particularly good that at least one of your kids is keen (crazy) enough to join you after getting wet.
thepud Posted July 22, 2022 Posted July 22, 2022 Good job buddy, nice to know i am not the only avid fisher who only catches 2 inch bream!
Rebel Posted July 23, 2022 Posted July 23, 2022 Top report. Great photos. Nothing like fishing with the Family. Well done.
Squidless Posted July 23, 2022 Posted July 23, 2022 Awesome report. Despite the rain, I'm sure it was great to be out there to decompress from the daily stresses. Your son is still so keen even with all that rain, I can only hope my son will be like that when he grows up!
LuckyFil Posted July 23, 2022 Posted July 23, 2022 A great story. You are no longer allowed to say “I’m not a good fisherman”! 😀 3
Pickles Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 Champion effort Hugh - great way to spend the holidays. Praise the Lord. 1
