  1. And who can remember the old pocket fisherman rod/reel combo, would be a great match in the collection with that tool. They can also fetch big money these days.
  2. Out of interest what time of day was it & what's colour jig did the most damage?
  3. You must have read my mind Zoran as that exactly my thoughts & the idea of these shows. I went.to a 4X4 show just after I got my new Triton & I wanted a bar for. Was between 3 makes of bars & I could see them all within 50mtrs of each other. Discounted one straight away then it was who was willing to give me the best deal. In the end I got a TJM bar fitted for nearly 1K under there normal retail price. Well worth the effort, drive & admin fee! As for boat show I wouldn't go every year if I wasn't specifically looking at a big ticket item but that can be a fun & interesting day out looking at all the new gear. Last time I went myself & my mate got onto a couple of Riviera's, and in front of the salesman I said to my mate, should I get the 35 footer or the 45 footer I can't make up my mind. The guy was probably thinking tell him he's dreaming. But I still laugh about it with my mate
  4. I have not tested for that, but the cover is only on there for transport & while underway on the boat. I usually take it off when I get home. I have had plastics melt together when I have mixed then in a tackle box but never heard of one melting plastic, didnt think they were corrosive? So in short I dont have an answer to that
  5. Not sure what worm proof is?? How long will they last, not sure but hey at $10 for 4 they are worth a go right??
  6. 🤣 Didn't mean to start a whole Covid debate although that is the direct reason the show cancelling!
  7. Not sure how many rusty sets of fishing plyers I have but its a few. If I was to buy something again it would be alloy plyers I wouldn't be taking my good Leatherman surge out fishing even is they are SS, which means stains less not stainless Braid scissors are a must, they arent that expensive but well worth it.
  8. https://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fishing/fish-species/species-list/cobia Distribution Generally found in the more northern waters of NSW but has been recorded as far south as Jervis Bay.
  9. Its a shame they didn't just postpone it & re schedule it like a lot of our events have done over the last week or so since the lockdown was announced. Still Im sure they tried but it maybe to hard to reorganize other stakeholders/partners ect & logistically with the boats maybe. Bad news for all parties not just boaties! All of Sydney's hospitality & events businesses, particularly the CBD will need the support after yet another massive disruption to business due to this lockdown. Hospitality cops the brunt of it again 😢 Get vaccinated if you can so we dont have to keep going through this BS 🤬
  10. Ebay. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Fishing-Lure-Wraps-4-Pack-Clear-PVC-Lure-Covers-11x21cm-with-Fishing-Hook-Keeper-/384240861094?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=705-154756-20017-0 There is different makes, sizes, quality etc so it's to you what you spend. If you want to spend $20-30 each just to have matching Daiwa version you can https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Daiwa-Protective-Fishing-Lure-Wrap-Size-Large-/183839284444?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=705-154756-20017-0 Call me cheap but the $2.50 ones do the same job 😉
  11. Yes I use the plastic velcro covers similar to these both in the car & on the boat on rods that are rigged & not being used while in rocket launchers etc. Saves the lure banging into the rod constantly while under way, especially metal jigs! They are cheap as chips, usually 4 for $10
  12. Well seeing as you only have less 2 hours to go I guess we will hear if it works or not 🙄. Species like mulloway work on vibration in the water through there lateral lines as well as sight & scent. Life is like a box of chocolates...................
  13. That will teach me to comment before my first cuppa 🙄🤪🤣 Looks in great nic as well. Enjoy.
  14. Never heard of that brand before, thought they just made electric shavers 🤔😄 Though this might interest some https://www.orcaonline.org/bronson-production-reels-page-1-aetna-to-green-hornet/
  15. Only just but a few more than me But crikey I hope you get mates rate or at least buy like I do when they are on buy 2 for get one free special 😅
  16. I think in principal your right but again we are all thrown into confusion over what is not a well expressed definition of the term! I guess we will find out soon enough when people either get fined or not?? But its not good enough really, there should be better clarification for sure!!
  17. And that just emphasizes that you need to have at least half a dozen colors in the bag & be prepared to try them all if you not getting a bite or a good take. Would be nice after this current Sydney covid scare passes if we could try for another PS get together & get out to Broughton for a bash, I'm still itching to get up there & have a crack at some great snaps like that 🙂
  18. Nice work Jeff. Great looking ice box there What SP's did the damage on the day? Hang on I'll have a guess................🤔 Coconut iceglow or pearl? Just thought Id have a stab 😁
  19. I have some in the tackle box but haven't gotten around to using them as I not able to get outside fishing enough. I see them more as an open water/reef type of lure where you have more water depth for the action of the lure to work. Maybe 20mtrs +?? I also have some of those pirate jigs which again I have not had the chance to use yet & think they would also be good for similar fish you would catch with the slow pitch jigs. As usual I think its a good thing to have a variety of tricks in the bag & if one is not work then take it off & try another one. I guess you just need to know how to adjust your fishing style to suit each one.
  20. There are already publications out there that have done the hard yards already for you & looked at the historical tide/bara/lunar etc & worked out the best "theoretical" times to catch fish. I have never bought one but should as they are cheap(about $8 a year), but these could be an easy way to associate catch rates with a date & time to the tide chart of the day & add notes to the type of weather on a particular day?? Put it in the cupboard & look at it next year for the same period or use it to plan around. There is one for pretty much every state. Just an idea
  21. The products are out there, companies do build 24V Li banks, they just cost a lot of money & as you found out not as easy as L/Acid or AGM to connect in series. https://www.springers.com.au/shop/product/rpl24-200-revolution-lifepo4-24v-200ah-battery-11038 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LifePo4-Li-ion-Phosphate-200Ah-4-8KWh-Cells-24-Volt-Power-Bank-Battery-Pack-Kit-/402511316708?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l6249 Good to hear you got some honest advice from the retailer though you didn't get the outcome you wanted.
  22. Not sure why you wouldn't want a swivel? It's also there to reduce twist in the line. How are you fishing Are? Are you trolling?? The other option would be a SS ring. Personally don't think I would want braid running directly to such a potentially abrasive point. If you have found a mono to wire knot then why not use a mono/fluro leader & use a FG knot or similar to tie the leader to the braid??
