  1. If you run the line through all the guides & tie it to a fixed object & then load the rod up a bit you will see where on the top guide the lines regular contact point will be. Will this matter in the scheme of normal operation?? I doubt it in the long run. Years ago I was given a nice older fbrgls shimano rod(Sorocco or Sirocco, something like that) by an old work acquaintance because he didn't want it anymore, reason being it had been stored improperly & was slightly bent. I accepted it gratefully. Loaded up you would never know. Great rod, for me anyway πŸ˜‚ Still using it & catching fish πŸ˜‰
  2. Is the connection inside the hull or outside?? Inside the hull Anderson could be the go but note they are not a 100% waterproof connection. If I am fitting something that is going to be exposed its usually something like a Deutsch plug but I am not really sure how high there Amp rating goes? I used a Deutsch plugs when fitting 450W light bar & HID spotlights to my 4x4 & they are outside the vehicle exposed to the elements. I know Andersons are used for external 12V connections to trailers etc but personally if using such a exposed connection I would be trying to make it a s waterproof as possible s well https://www.jaycar.com.au/50a-anderson-waterproof-boot-load-side/p/PT4428 I think being on the water I would apply the same kind of logic, anything that will inhibit moisture & salt ingress would be better in my eyes.
  3. At least you got out & ended up getting a bend in the rod
  4. Well done young bloke, cracker of a salmon πŸ‘
  5. Well the way I see it & part of the reason I bought my rod at its length & weight was it was a bit of a combo rod, to be able to be used as a stick bait rod but also able to be a moderately heavy bottom rod. If your going to buy the HX version then don't expect it will cast as good as the lighter version. It is what it is.
  6. My SJ 792H is joined at the butt. I'd be guessing but I'd imagine all the SJ's would be the same? I'd have check the Gimbal, for memory I think it has a removable cap over the gimbal grooves?
  7. Your definitely hooked on this fishing thing 🀭 I hope the missus let you off the hook this time ☺ Sorry, couldn't help it, just a bit of light humour, hope it heals ok, I also hope they gave you a Tetnis booster! Nice bag of FH to πŸ‘
  8. Yes Waza, I think quite often many people in generally seek out a brand name & just spend unnecessarily on over rated gear But hey, at the end of the day its your money so you do what you want with it. I ask myself Is it what you need or what I want?? Sometimes its both & happy to pay more if its warranted, sometimes I am happy with cheap & nasty as long as it does the job
  9. I have a couple of cheap pairs of Bunnings style waterproof pants, maybe $20 max, waterproof for sure but maybe not cool or the right name. I have a Savage gear top that again was not that expensive but still more money that needs to be spent really. For a boat, your not moving really so you don't need Gore-Tex or any of that stuff you just need to stay dry, that doesn't cost much imo! I also have a lot of dedicated snow skiing gear that comes with all the tags like "breathable" & waterproof & it is but its much more expensive but when your in constant sub zero temps you want to be dry on the outside & the inside as much as possible. If you were into sailing I would say spend more money, you need maneuverability as well as being able to stay dry.

  11. Doesn't matter how muddied the waters are, fish still gotta eat! And you have proven that
  12. Not sure what that means, the water treatment from warragamba is not able to cope???
  13. You certainly have adventurist offspring Jon, they must have got that from someone I was about 10yrs old when my father started to teach me to shoot/hunt/fish/photograhpy, an appreciation of land & landscape but education was just as important, as was all round politeness, manners & respect(yep back in the day when you got your ears clipped for being rude to anyone). I think the high society would probably call us rednecks but far from it πŸ˜‰
  14. So people are paying $40 a case for beer flavoured water 😳 https://www.boozebud.com/p/carltonzero/375mlcan?gclid=Cj0KCQjw3duCBhCAARIsAJeFyPWVUqpVh_UFgRwLJOnOnfdNI_GyrgBuecpMKxq6henDvgCKEiUMLSAaAoE3EALw_wcB Or $45 for 12 Γ— 375ml bottles of miracle hemp tonic in the shape of a beer bottle https://hempoz.com.au/products/hemp-kombucha-tonic?variant=8348434726956&currency=AUD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&utm_source=adwords&utm_medium=ppc&utm_term=&utm_campaign=Sales+l+Shopping+Campaign+l+NSW+VIC+QLD&hsa_grp=104335148336&hsa_src=g&hsa_ver=3&hsa_cam=10518057516&hsa_net=adwords&hsa_acc=5158742941&hsa_kw=&hsa_tgt=pla-293946777986&hsa_mt=&hsa_ad=447550928291&gclid=Cj0KCQjw3duCBhCAARIsAJeFyPVSxHeP1Tdg0jbaOClhdpAXhVuD90-2EC75_5ITs1IJbAPzeKBDWR8aAhgBEALw_wcB I think its a joke myself, all these "no alcohol " drinks. If you want to abstain the just have a cup if green tea, 10 cents a glass & probably much better for you. But then if your at a bbq it at least looks better to be swilling something out of what at least looks like an alcohol bottle. Its a bit like vegan food disguised as meat products πŸ˜‚
  15. We(our government/s) have little foresight, only just over 2 years ago we were at level 2 water restrictions & complaining we couldnt wash out boats, today we are releasing a sydney harbour of water a day back into the ocean! In 2016 the spillway was opened again so in 2 years or less we could very well be on water restrictions the way we are over populating the sydney basin! Imo we need to be able to pump water from one dam to another when the water levels are to high in one & low in another. That way the need to open the spillway would be omited. Look at the Snowy mountain scheme, this is one of the greatest engineering feats in Australia, if not the world started in 1949. Water is such a big commodity here, & some people in regions are restriced from even using water thats flows past them for agriculture. Many countries in the world have major pipelines for oil & gas, I think the longest pipeline is something like 8,707km long Anyway we are off topic because I think this thread is actually about Bass & trout 😬
  16. You used the word "tautology" which I'd never heard of before & had to look up so I have learnt something today πŸ€”πŸ˜… Personally I would use the word "oxymoron" .........................πŸ˜‚ Each to their own, whatever floats your boat but the subject is getting very close to other personal preferences, passions or beliefs like............................religion 😬 And I think drinking non alcoholic beer is sacrilegious even if Im not religious 🀣
  17. Everyone is coping it along the nsw coast & hinterland by the look of it.
  18. The majority of other weather services or apps all pretty much base their predictions on the BOM data/forecasts. The only thing I find with BOM is you have to visit multiple pages to get similar if not better detail you can from other services like seabreeze on 1 page. I think BOM is a bit behind the times in their user interface compared to other services.
  19. Looks like a great weekend away πŸ‘ When I was working down there used to regularly see some huge fish(60cm+) sitting in the eddy side of the Thredbo river bridge pylons over Koszy rd. Watched a show(cant remember the name of the guy right now, Renner maybe?) & he fished just up from the picinic area at the same place & was getting plenty of fish. Also when I used to ride my Mtn bike in the park crossing some tiny streams over little wooden bridges in the smallest amount of water, its amazing where they can get to. I used to fish the mouth of the Thredbo, more just for some piece & qiuet. Got a nice 40cm rainbow there one day on a tassie devil, hot smoked it, beautiful πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³ Such a nice place to chill out
  20. Most filter cartridges should be changed annually, if you haven't done a change before I'd be doing one after this event.
  21. πŸ˜„πŸ˜‚ At least you guys have your own Arks if it turns out the be "that flood" Stay safe & don't cross flooded roadsπŸ‘ PS, it might be the doomsday prepper in me but in my spare fridge I always have about 30ltrs of bottled filtered tap water for such occasions, coincidentally in brown PET beer brewing bottles 😁
  22. That does sound plausable πŸ‘
