  1. Smaller inline fuses are good to protect individual appliances & as a secondary defense but if you had have had a circuit breaker between say the main battery to a bus board then you wont fry your individual appliances(or wiring) if a surge occurs. CB's are alot cheaper than a shunt diode but I might be missing something on what the diode can do that the CBV cant?? I thought a shunts measures the current, maybe its the diode that cuts the circuit if the current is to high?
  2. Max image size total per post is 9.77mb as written at the bottom when you make your reply to the thread. Nice pics by the way
  3. All things come down to budget, you can easily spend 1K on a jigging rod down to $200 & reels from $400 to 1K so having an idea of budget will determine suggestions. As for the Saragosa, well it has a 15kg drag & a decent line capacity for 50lb braid at over 300mtrs but maybe what lets it down is the gear ratio, usually for jigging the reels traditionally used are a higher ration like 6.2:1 or higher. But if you are on a tight budget your Saragosa should do the job. Some guys like to use overhead set up to which could be worth looking at, again if its within the budget.
  4. Again its items like this that you have to buy for the travel buddy that come standard on other brands, same goes for the merit plug having to be changed to an Anderson plug on most occasions I just bought a Kickass for $50 less than the travel buddy, already has an insulated door, door latch, Anderson plug as standard(fused) & Anderson to merit plug adapter. Travel buddy would be losing less sales to other brands if they actually took notice of what potential customers had to say about their product & made the improvements needed at no extra cost!
  5. Ask for all the service history/reports is the 1st thing I would be doing. How many hours run time #2 At minimum even if you cant get to a waterway they need to start it, check how it runs, nice solid flow from the telltale, no oil leaks anywhere. Take the cowling off & have a good look around after it has been run, check hydraulics, well greased where it should be. You can usually tell if someone has looked after a motor, on the outside at least.
  6. Just a suggestion but maybe contact fellow raider Dieter aka @61 crusher, he might be able to help you out? He is a licensed plumber.
  7. Frank, is it a specialist/engineer works or something a licensed plumber could do??
  8. If you do some research you might find that the Tohatsu is the same as the Mercury of the same year & therefore you could most likely use genuine Mercury parts which would be better than cheap ebay stuff imo. What is the exact model & serial number?? That could give you the answer.
  9. Never seen those before. The Floaters & San Juan's look pretty groovy but to much coin for me.
  10. Are the transitions polarized?? That to me is a must for fishing. You may be able to get the transitions polarized?? Then again polarized lenses aren't good for looking at screens either. I know it can be annoying changing glasses all the time but I would also not take my $150 reading glasses on the boat for the fear of breaking or losing them. I just take a cheapish pair of polarized polycarbonate sunnies & a cheap pair of chemist glasses for tying knots etc. No big loss if either end up in the drink.
  11. Its fathers day............................................but mums the word 😉😅🤫
  12. Ramp design- https://www.maitlandmercury.com.au/story/7159591/new-look-boat-ramp-for-little-beach/ Im presuming when the upgrade was proposed & design put forward there would have been an opportunity for input by the public, not that that means anything was going to change from the original concept, probably just an oppertunity for the greenies to oppose it! Realistically knowing where it is it would have benefitted from a small break wall I guess they wouldnt have wanted to cause any damage to any seagrass 🙄 It the sounds of it there is work going to be done eventually on the amenities. https://www.portstephens.nsw.gov.au/your-council/news/big-upgrade-for-little-beach-boat-ramp I guess sometimes you just have to be happy with the crumbs rather than getting the whole slice of bread
  13. It was due for completion this month but I'm sure @Scratchie could give you an update on the progress. Charlene Wellard.pdf https://www.portstephensexaminer.com.au/story/7332199/little-beach-boat-ramp-rebuild-begins/
  14. I dont have any real experience with them but from a couple of past threads I did look into mounting different solutions. If I am looking for ideas I usually scour the internet & just see what solutions others have come up with. You dont nessacarily have to weld a plate on but you can fashion a mounting bolt on solution to suit. Having an ally deck could possibly make it easier than FG but I would also fit an under plate to support the deck as well if possible. There are also rail mounts as well but you would need to get it modified & it sounds like thats not an option if you dont have someone you can trust to do the job.
  15. Nice looking head........................ the beer looks god to 😁 I used to do a bit but haven't done it in years. I always thought that the maturing time was at least 4-6weeks?
  16. All rods work, we have just succumb to opinion & market strategies 😉
  17. @BurgerI was a westy back then so I dont recall ever getting to Selina's, however being from that era I was a bit saddened to hear this news the other day in the name of progress https://www.9news.com.au/national/coogee-bay-hotel-iconic-music-venue-selinas-to-close/85c77427-3351-4689-808a-0b683ca7508a Used to hit places like Revesby roundhouse, Bankstown RSL, Stallions, St.George sailing club & lots I cant remember these days😆 Seeing all the old acts like Rose tattoo, The Angels, Midnight oil, Mental as anything, Spy vs Spy ,Hoodoo Guru's, Hunters & collectors ,The choir boys.............the list goes on. Good memories
  18. Am I ever gonna catch a fish again..........now way get🤬 🤬 off Thats the version I remember 🤣 Its a pretty apt feeling for some of us atm. Thanks for a bit of fun.
  19. I gave them my opinion FWIW to them? More than anything I just think there is a lack of understanding of boating etiquette & what that actually means. Actually even more so for PWC license holders. How many times is a good day spoilt by some HWit thinking they are the most important person in the world & the only one on the water 🤔 70 days in lockdown rant over 😂 Its one thing to put opinions to governing bodied but probably even more important to have these conversations on platforms like here! Until it starts upsetting the apple cart at least
  20. Personally I think its better to use mono off the rocks for abrasion resistance no matter the reel or line class.
  21. More perspective https://www.2gb.com/only-covid-matters-ben-fordham-highlights-deaths-other-than-coronavirus/ 200,000 Australians have unfortunately passed away from other causes in the same period 1000 people have passed away from Covid 19! 4500 of those from suicide!! The real sociological impacts from this virus but more importantly the government decisions & actions will be felt for years to come. You can try & dangle a tiny carrot in front of people & think that helps but the restriction of human rights has a far worse an impact!
  22. Sounds like a fun trip & lucky to get it in There the ones that would have been good to see on ice, there is always next time if we are ever allowed there again 🙂
  23. I think I have 4 Ugly's in the collection & recon they are a great value rod, tough as nails Even in the light versions I think they would hold up much better in comparison to light graphite in landing a bigger fish for the rod class. Pretty easy to explain to the old man in ways they might understand, light rod/reel/line for catching small fish, heavier rod/reel/line for catching bigger fish 😉 Is that the shimano a combo for sale for the store that starts with B? Its had to try to get all your fishing needs to suit 1 rod/line class, I sort of think that the 3-6kg range is a good all-round mid weight range for bay/estuary but then as mentioned its really about what you want to target, even still to heavy for a whiting/bream rod which I have a jewel 1-4kg rod for. But would I use the 1-4kg if I was going to go out chasing jew, nope, I would probably take my 4-8kg or my 6-10kg outfits. Good luck on finding the new boat
  24. They will never stop, just like the proposal to turn the NSW coast line into a marine park, got rejected but it will come up again. Yep I'd have to say more so in NSW your personal freedoms are being encroached upon upon on a daily basis & if you just lay down they will walk right over the top of you!
