  1. Could have been jackets, octopus or even squid attacking the SP. Could you feel anything nibbling at it? Did the packet still have it's liquid in it?
  2. That all depends on who's cooking them 😉
  3. I'd skip ham & eggs for Xmas breakfast to get into some of those fine kings 😁 Well done Jon 👍
  4. Thats great to hear Jackey. We all plan to catch something when we head out & a very rewarding feeling when the effort pays off. Would like to see the fruits of your labour hitting the plate
  5. Have a safe & merry Christmas all raiders. While the trials of life can be overwhelming at times it great to have fishing as an outlet & being able to share with this community Again a shout out today to those who are affected by fires & the people who help protect us all. Santa was kind to me Tight lines all 😊
  6. Very nice fish but it looks like 81cm to me. Don't sell yourself short mate, every cm counts, you just beat my PB by 1
  7. Awesome work Jeff & flanno Jeff that thing is so big you could turn it into a snapturducken 😏😁😜🤪😂😂🤣🤣 Enjoy Christmas lunch guys
  8. How was the line loaded or 'spooled' onto the reel?? If spooled incorrectly the line will be loaded with a twist. Also reeling in the line while in drag can also cause the line to twist
  9. Score https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Penn-International-Series-II-30TW-Combo/274082532664?hash=item3fd0978d38:g:CogAAOSwUYtdwOe0
  10. Not down playing yours or anyone else's situation atm as I know there has been major losses & tradgetys over a number of states but the Sydney basin has been seeing this almost every day for like the last 6 weeks. 11 times what the national safe pollution level is several days at a time! You know it's crazy when you can't see the skyscraper 100mtrs in front of you. Wishing all in affected areas & the RFS my best wishes. Probably for another thread but there will be an inquiry into this & the 'green' side of politics should be ashamed! To reduce hazard burning to try & try & save 'carbon credits'..................well this is the results!! Stay safe all & try to have a safe Xmas & new years.
  11. Life has a way of getting in the road of fishing, or whatever it is you like to do. but at some point you have to take the power back 😉
  12. No idea what the are is like but someone on here will. The channel will be quite a fast run on tide changes so if it was me I would just pick an area with nice sand & reasonably shallow.
  13. Lake Macquarie maybe? Good tidal flow & plenty of sand!
  14. Doesn't take much, just bringing something on board brings on the grin Man that flatty has some sort of belly 🤣 Nice work Bruce 👍
  15. Welcome to the forum @Jackey. Without trying to sound funny, how about the Entrance? You already have the memory of it so why not go there where you have done it before?? Or do you mean in Sydney somewhere? I also have great memories of prawning when visiting my mother at St.Georges basin nsw during summer as a adolescent & we blokes would be lamping with the gas lantern with the mantle & would usually get 1/2 a 10ltr bucket of small ones in an hour or so. Id imagine its LED's these days 😏 Every now & then you would see or step on an eel & that would freak me out for a while 😅 As long as we had enough for mum to have a prawn omelet then all was right with the world 🤣 I have read where 4-5 days either side if the new moon being the optimum time for prawns.
  16. Thought this link came up before in another thread & I had been looking for it so thanks
  17. Sounds like a good day out after a slow start. Bad luck on the king, they will find a twig in a desert!
  18. How hard is it? That totally depends on your mechanical skill level! The whole lower is removed so no oil is lost nor needs to be changed in the process but when was it changed last? There are quite a few youtubes out there which show the process. If after watching many you feel confident then give it a crack
  19. Nice work. I just bought my 1st baitcaster set up so looking forward to getting out with it.
  20. You got it Rick 😉 They do WA pilchards in IQF but I havent seen squid, not saying it doesnt exist? It would be nice if they still did the blocks with some plastic film between them in a couple of layers so then you could shatter the pack easier which would help. When we buy 5kg of squid tubes in the foodservice industry that's how it comes, 4 layers & easy to shatter & just take 1kg. Bait squid ain't much cheaper than food grade really so would be nice to see the same effort put in!
