  1. Seems like your doing better than anyone else atm so well done . Those live podd'y are the difference, well at least part of it! We were there around the same time, what vessel were you in? Your previous threads show you in a yak but I didn't see a yak out there yesterday?
  2. Yes I haven't done any good for some time now so thinking I need to change strategies/baits. Sounds like some people are doing well on live baits so that means the fewer fish(and more sizable) are more fussy on what they will take?? Or its just a case of places being over fished??
  3. I actually think they area very cool bit of gear. Ive had my small 4ltr version for around 2 years now & they are fantastic for what they are. All different models out there but from $70 they are basically mini ovens of varying sizes but yeh you can also spend $400! Sounds familiar to fishing gear right ๐Ÿ˜œ Capacity is a major factor so imo get the biggest you can for your budget. Being single & not having to cook for a group I find myself using mine most days for things like roasting 1/2 a chook, roasting some vegies or even doing a some oven fries is I am making a quick burger. Beats having to preheat the electric oven for 20 minutes then cooking the fries for another 20 minutes. I can have oven bakes fries in 20 minutes in the air fryer. If you have the right sized insert to fit them you can pretty much bake anything in them. But they are what they are, not char grill, not deepfryers, but small ovens essentually.
  4. Put in at Hawksbury park Taren point 6.30am with the idea of fishing the Georges for a change as the reports from there recently sounded promising. The water was full of debris & quite dirty from the big storm the night before. Did a couple of drifts past Taren point bridge for a couple of small whiting, a few small squire. Moved up to Tom uglies for no action. Decided to take a run into the bay & try my usual flathead spots for 1 undersized only. Wind picked up at 10.30am so decided to head home with nothing in the esky. The highlight was I took a mate out with me who is new to fishing & helped him catch his 1st fish which was a small squire,so happy about that, he was stoked ๐Ÿ˜ Passed a few large logs, 4x4's & tree branches heading back to the ramp so keep an eye out!!
  5. You haven't allowed room for more ๐Ÿคจ Just as well sheds have 4 walls ๐Ÿคฃ
  6. $40 to $1000. It not usually about what they cost, its about what you want to spend! When you establish that then you can look in the price range of your budget. You also have to establish what it is your targeting to get to what set up will be required. Baitcasters are no different to spin gear in that way, set up for bream you need a 1-4kg rod class & reel to suit like a 150, if you going for barra then you wouldn't use the bream set up, you would need something like a 8-10kg set up with 300/400 reel.
  7. We need to know the budget to give you a suggestion!
  8. I really like my air fryer, great for some things. You can get a cheap habachi grill or gas bbq from bunnings.
  9. Can only dream of pulling in stuff like that. Nice going Jon & crew ๐Ÿ˜
  10. I think you only have to look at some recent post from say Pickles & some others to get a bit of 'intel' on kings within the harbour. Have heard Watsons bay has been good for John Dory previously. Pigs & sows seems to come up a lot as well. Good luck.
  11. Then go & have a look at them!! You can usually get a good view of a ramp from google street view. Apart from that you got to be there to test the waters!
  12. I have an air fryer & wouldn't be prepared to do occy in it as you need the char of a gas bbq or charcoal bbq to char & impart flavour. It also depends on the size of the occy as to how much cooking it needs to tenderize it. If its large I cook it in a court bullion(poaching liquor) for up to 2 hours to tenderize it before charring it on the grill. This is a greek style occy I did at home a while ago using that method.

  14. @zmk1962 has a lot of 12V experience so hopefully he will see this thread & comment shortly. My limited experience is more with 4x4 vehicle set ups but still its very similar. What @dmck has mentioned is about smart alternators which is a definite thing in newer 4x4 vehicles, not sure if that is the case with boat motors?? I am not up to speed on what charge an outboard would/should produce but if its not putting out more that 12V then you wont even fully charge the main battery as it needs around 14V to charge, if only 12V is going into the AUX battery then it wont fully charge either & continue to draw more with anything else that is added to the system.
  15. So what Volts is your main starter battery getting? Should be around 14 volts. How far away are the batteries from one another? If they are some distance apart then there will be a voltage loss, in 4x4 terms this is one reason why people use DC-DC chargers over VSR's.
  16. Your mate beat you to it https://www.fishraider.com.au/topic/90466-fish-identification/
  17. Blue spotted upside down fish ๐Ÿ˜œ Sorry had to throw that in. No idea, looked at all the charts & I cant find it. Interesting!
  18. There is no such thing as 'best' Its what you can afford & what does the job for the price! You can but waterproof pants & jackets for as little as $25 each, will they suit what you want? Cold weather you need lined or have layers, hot weather you need a shell. There is no 1 answer!
  19. Correct ๐Ÿ‘ Tohatsu also made motors with Evinrude badging which I believe was from 2011 onwards on 15hp & lower, that year & size is your Evinrude?
  20. Actually I don't thing that is quite right? I believe 30hp & less Mariner & mercury's were both made by Tohatsu Japan in that era & re badged. @Djw88, find a Schematic of the wiring & go from there.
  21. Lol I think you should post that top bit in here & blame being tired ๐Ÿ˜œ
  22. Nice work Neil, I like your live tank set up ๐Ÿ‘ Is that your own DIY?
