  1. It might’ve been higher up in the water column as there were soundings in the top third, come to think of it I got my PB snapper 65cm on single paternoster rig in slow bait runner mode with a pilly on the way down Wish I had scratchie’s plastics technique onboard
  2. Thanks gents the first time I wondered down there after having a squid session with only one in the bag. One of the guys offered me his outfit while cleaning the catch, I managed two before he was done, the other bloke still fishing gave one of his fish to me (perfect amount for a family feed) & in kind I offered my only squid to the chap who lent me his gear, he was reluctant but I insisted, it was used later with his grandkids who caught a few nice bream, he has since requested more if I have any spare Thanks the smallest fresh frozen for bait & the other two tentacles an all went dow great for lunch yesterday yum! Thanks Adrian, the leaf cabbage off the local rocks, the guy who gave me the fixed float said if I happen to catch him at his car he’ll give me some more floats as he makes them If interested once the weather settles get in touch & we can go for a session
  3. Around Jibbon Beach & the bommie just around the corner outside
  4. Good on you for sharing the fight, looks like everyone enjoyed the time away Great report & photos 👍
  5. The first squid I tried the old karate chop on ended up in 2 pieces & had a damn sore hand 😂 Great haul & feed on the squid & kingies there @danielsydney as well as good info on depth & deep jig Have you tried that jig or paternoster rig on the deeper grounds (30m+) for a possible 40cm+ hood. I managed to pick one up in 60m once with a net after it followed a pair of trag up
  6. Good to see you got the boat out & got a nice feed of blue spots, like you I prefer to keep the larger ones for a feed Would’ve been interesting to see what the other spots produced if you were there for the bite time Always good to see nature in action sometimes that’s all that’s needed to make for an enjoyable day out Good read 👍
  7. After a slow winter & early spring on general fishing & the squid front I managed to go out yesterday afternoon for a reconnaissance to see if the blackfish were still around as I finally had a day off (Friday) I managed two downs for a blackie, they were slow which was expected as the water was well shadowed before dusk. On dusk & almost dead low I flicked a squid jig & managed 3 in about 20 mins & headed homeThis morning went back & had another go at the blackfish for the third time with my running float rig & not having much joy. One of the local guys suggested a fixed float (kindly donated) & longer trace. Well that changed the ball game & I managed to bag out in under three hours Happy days
  8. Great report & photos, not often one gets to upgrade a PB in one session, as I said before, the smiles say it all congrats
  9. Great to hear @DerekD gave you an intensive & exhausting tuition session & @Pickles got you onto some kings Hope you managed to take it all in and got a few tips regarding squidding along the way 👍
  10. Good report, I’m surprised it was that busy as I went for a quick walk around 8am on Saturday at the Avoca ledge & there were only 7 fishos, didn’t see much caught except for a couple of tailor, two guys who normally fish bass point or the hill mentioned that it was dead down there & heard that C.Coast had been fishing well, from what I’ve seen & heard a few salmon not many & the odd king
  11. Great video & what a beautiful day to be out on the water sharing with family
  12. Dolphins, seals & sharks definitely keeps them edgy, I did manage to pick up 3 small ones when the shark was around for some reason this year has been a bit tough whereas last year plenty of good sized ones (3 to 5+) most sessions all taken off the stones even in the middle of the day at times
  13. Not local but a bit further down the coast ( Terrigal to broken bay) usually get the flatties in 40 to 70m
  14. What did that cost you out of curiosity
  15. Interesting report & well done
  16. Looks like you’ve made the most of your downtime & had some great sessions 👍
  17. Nice bag of green eyes 👍, I’m only managing 2 to 3 lollipops or the odd single 30cm hood length in a session It’s tough going when the same area you’re fishing & competing with sharks & seals, lifted one out the other morning & saw a shark on the surface track the same line I’d just pulled the squid in, it was about 2m long & only disappeared when it was about to hit the rocks
  18. Saw an ex pro fisher at the ramp the other day with a couple of kids on board, they managed to get their 30 bag limit over 5 hours He mentioned starting at the 50m line & had to keep moving til he found the bigger ones & more consistency at 70m & also mentioned the current wasn’t running hard
  19. Great report & heaps of good photos Congrats on your lure caught PB 👍
  20. Last Sunday morning heard around the skillion one on lure & one on pilly & float also a good snapper on the float, also a couple of schools of rats passing through over the last week at the south platform no takers though
  21. Well done on round 2, another great report photos & video nice jack Dave that sure would’ve got the heart pumping 👍
  22. Congrats to the young fella epic fish on 2kg line 👍
