  1. Hi RRM, you can pay a lot of money for them but I have a cheapy from WWths, I got a medium which is for vessels up to 20ft for 13ft tinny & wish I had of gotten the large one for 25ft vessels as it was only another $20. The bigger the better imo. For memory I have it set up with the main line being about 8-10mtrs, I dont use nylon as I think its good to have a little stretch as when it works properly it can give you a decent jolt so I used some of that braided poly rope. The trip line is thinner rope & is about 1.5mtrs longer than the mail line, you could make the trip line longer & have in tied to a rail near where you sit if you think you might need to pull it on quicker & not having to move as far? Both my lines are tied off the the bow hand rail which is the same place the anchors is set up to, that way it pulls the bow into the wind.
  2. They are valid till the end of June 2022 but if you haven't used them yet It sure would help in the recovery of local hospitality & small businesses if you spent your vouchers soon after we open up .
  3. The thing is though is if you dont catch anything with the Lunds on the day if you look after it you could eat it when you get home. Its actually a food grade product as far as I am aware, people just use it for bait because its that good!
  4. πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„ He probably caught & released 10 times that number of undersized to get 5 keepers. A mate & I fished the hacking once & between the 2 of us we caught 150 squire in 4 hours & we did not bring a fish home!! Biggest was about 26cm. There are millions of them in there!!! Taking just legal fish wont hurt overall fish numbers, that's what the size & bag limits are for. If the DPI were to find that the size limit should be increased as they have done with other species then so be it. Until them 30cm is 30cm.
  5. Thanks for sharing guys. Looks like a great day was had. Any day you can be on the water, catch a few bread & butter fish & end up with a feed like that at the end you would have to be stoked wouldn't you! Nice presentation to mate πŸ˜‰
  6. There has to be more fish out there now to catch & bigger since most of us have given them nearly 4 months off πŸ€”πŸ˜„ Well maybe not in port hacking anyway πŸ™„. Weather is not looking good for most of next week unfortunately but as soon as I see a break in it I will be using my 1 personal wellbeing leave day that I have to dust off the tinny & hit botany bay. Don't even care if I catch anything but it will be a bonus if I do & bringing something home for dinner would be an even better bonus. Good luck out there.
  7. Great fish & a very well written detailed report
  8. I know you love the island but you also know the way around the rest of your waterways Jeff. I still remember the NB trip & how we all struggled to pick up a fish in the bad conditions but you still showed that you can catch good fish if your willing to just do the work but knowing your area helps. Anytime I see a picture my eye cant help go to the background & keep that info in the back of my mind for the next trip up to the bay πŸ˜‰
  9. Looks like a great day to be out on the water On your last comment, I have heard pigfish are great eating but to look at that fish I'd also be scratching my head & would have to fumble for the phone to look up what it is. Never tried one, its on the list
  10. From what I have red mulloway being a bit of a territorial ambush predator like to sit in natural channels & holes formed from tidal flows as well as holes made from man made structure & tidal flow. A mate caught a nice one(legal) when we were fishing in a channel that runs along kangaroo point on prawn so you dont always need live baits. Water depth was only 2mtrs. There is also some good info in here- Im also going to be doing a bit of targeted jew fishing this spring/summer once we get let out of the cage, I really want to catch one on SP's. Good luck, you have a plan/strategy so just get out there & test your theories, thats half the fun
  11. Its an old thread but would still be relevant to today. This thread could help you.
  12. Stockton beach is not away either & if you have a beach set up then looking for the gutters could produce as well. At the end.of the day there are lots of options & also as usual lots of threads on here to get info from https://www.portstephensexaminer.com.au/story/5922594/stockton-beach-a-fishing-wonderland/
  13. Salt & pepper nippers.........................Id give it a go 😁

  15. Hi LF, yeh they are both just so versatile & compliment each other. I would say watts is not a factor, it would be more about the bar pressure the pump can extract the air, although maybe the higher the wattage the larger the pump?? That I cannot answer as you would need to do an indepth investigation into model specs which can be hard to find. But thats why when you get into the "in chamber" models you are getting into bugger suction power but you pay for it. On the bags, there is a link at the bottom that contains some info on the bags. All the different manufacturers will have different specs for their bags & there will also produce different thicknesses which will be differently heat rated. Im actually looking for some higher temp bags at the moment that will take 90*c for longer for cooking things that I will want to cook to tenderize like pulled pork. A lot of bags will be rated to about 70*c so will be fine for most applications where you will be lower temp cooking & sealing the product after. At the end of the day I usually have a budget figure in mind, then I start searching through different brands/models & write down what features they offer & what feature I want. You can spend $50 to $500 in the channel bag versions so its a wide price point.

  17. Not that I have any idea but I wouldn't take one webpages review word but would look at a heap to get an wider opinion. At the end of the day the higher end more $$$ usually have less cons which is why people are prepared to pay the extra coin. If I could afford a Bugatti I wouldn't be driving a Mitsubishi 😁
  18. They will never look prettier 😁 Nice

  20. Yep. When I installed the GME UHF CB in my ute I used a 3A inline fuse(even though GME states 2A), pretty sure the positive power cable to the unit is only 10 or 15amp max Radio remains ON when the ignition switch is OFF- Connect the radio's negative (black) lead to the vehicle's chassis, or if preferred, directly to the battery's negative terminal. The radio's positive (red) lead should be connected via the 2 Amp fuse to the battery's positive terminal. Alternatively, the positive lead could be connected into the fuse box at a point that has +13.8 Volts continuously available (preferably the battery side of the ignition switch) via the 2 Amp fuse. Radio turns OFF with the ignition switch- Connect the radio's negative (black) lead to the vehicle's chassis, or if preferred, directly to the battery's negative terminal. The radio's positive (red) lead should connect to an accessory point in the vehicle's fuse box via the 2 Amp fuse. This point should supply +13.8 Volts only when the ignition switch is turned ON or in the ACCESSORY position. Dont see an install in a boat being any different really?
  21. I think it depends how you are fishing(what method), when I am SP fishing if you dont have the drag set to at least 50-75% then you will most likely not get the hook up on the fish properly. If I am bait fishing I will have the the drag set a bit loser, sometimes I might also have the bail arm open to let the fish run but then with the drag set at 50-75% again. If I am trolling Id probably have it at 75% I dont think there is an exact correct method of setting drag, it circumstantial imo. But I think the most important thing is to know what the max drag is on the reel & what your like rating is, imo you should be able to lock the drag without having the line break, but that might just be me?
  22. Nice work, I love anything DIY On this occasion I bought a FG tool instead of doing something like this myself. The only thing for me with this design & the way the knot is formed is as you do your wraps the line shortens between the 2 points that are at 90 degrees of the tag which is why my Daiichi is spring loaded. But if it works for you thats all that matters, its certainly better than trying to do it by hand which for me was a PITA.
  23. Some other threads you could look through for info https://www.fishraider.com.au/search/?q=stephens&quick=1 https://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0007/614509/Recreational-Fishing-Guide-Port-Stephens.pdf
