I spent Thursday trying to fish in the Hawkesbury and i can tell you the trawlers were active, must have been 5 or 6 of them continuously working both sides of the river. Was not worth putting as line down. Went back into the river and the story was quite different. Forget the mouth and go up river a bit, head towards Coal and Candle creek.

I see Chatswood Bait & Tackle has closed down for September other than Saturdays and i have always had them repair my rods. Anyone have a rod repair place north side? ideally north Sydney to St Ives area.

as an aside, a friend of mine who lives on the gold coast tells me at certain places (Tipplers?) they will rbt you when anchored and if you are over the limit they will book you. They take the position of "what if you had to move the boat?" I have a beer or a glass of wine on the boat at night when anchored and i have a 48 foot Riviera. That is my choice and i agree that those who do not want to drink on their boat are simply exercising their right of free choice. If you drink over the limit whether in control of a car or motor bike or boat etc then maybe you should think about the possible consequences. Anyway stay safe and catch the biggest and best fish that are out there.

Was one of the first people in the boat show this morning. To be honest, it is the same this year as it was last year as it was the year before etc. I saw nothing that really excited me although there is a fishing tackle store in there that seems to be doing a roaring trade. there are some boat show specials like 10% off outboards so i bought a new 3.3 mercury for $839 for my tender. Hope you enjoy it a little more than i did.
