  1. ... couldn't be any tougher than wombat.
  2. No... what you are seeing is common to every aluminium boat I have seen. It is not a problem unless the hull IS USED as part of an electrical circuit. EVERY electrical device on the boat should have a +ve and a -ve wire going to it.. The -ve wire MUST be connected back to the battery either directly or by a joining to another cable. Using the body as a part of the circuit is OK for cars... but not for boats.
  3. I reckon its the switch to engage/disengage the noise! When its 'on' and you get a run, you get a noise (ZZZZzzzzzzzz) as the line peels off. From memory there is a serrated ring (like a gear) around the centre pin (inside). There is a sprig loaded lever that rubs against this gear to make the noise. THe ratchet switch holds the lever away from the gear. ... and btw... a 'late 70's Alvey' is not OLD !!!!!!!!!!!! and its not beat up... it has character.... and when cleaned will work as well as the day it was new.

    Coffee

Its just an excuse to get out of the house. My Darling, Lady Lunch-a-lot aka The Duchess of Dining.... is showing withdrawal symptoms from not being out with her girlfriends 4 times every week... IT has resulted in 'excercise walks' that always seem to return by way of a coffee van. As I really enjoy coffee.... I dont mind her trips as long as I get a strong cappuccino. I'm suffering a broken leg and have enforced isolation... so her sojourns are a welcome distraction.
  5. I'm glad you said 'pumping' and not siphoning..................😇
  6. Hi Frank, is your neighbors house for sale? I'd like to live next to you !!🤣
  7. I have repaired rods inn exactly the method you describe with no noticeable effect on rod performance. The only thing I can add is you should consider overbinding the joint and epoxying the bind, to add extra strength from the outside too.
  8. I originally read it as a 27Mhz car CB..... thanks for clarification
  9. 27MHz car radio...? just who will he find to talk to? Who CAN he call for help? Be safe, upgrade to marine VHF (much higher power output, 24/365 monitored)
  10. Takes me back to my childhood in Glasgow.....
  11. Why the worry re toilet paper availability? Use a toilet brush...
  12. Brilliant use of 'confinement' !! Good luck with future development. how much does it cost to make a lure ( not printer cost but approx "ink" cost)?
  13. Try surgical pliers, usually find them on ebay at very reasonable prices. If the handles are not suitable cut them off and epoxy on plastic tubes https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR1.TRC0.A0.H0.Xsurgical+pliers.TRS0&_nkw=surgical+pliers&_sacat=0
  14. I too cannot complain. It was at my Darlings insistence that we have a decent boat, a holiday house on the seafront and a classic Mustang. (well... 2 Mustangs until I can sell one...) and we have done heaps of 4WD before age caught up.
  15. They are # 2 and 3.... #1 by any calculation is ................ WIFE..... (you must be a bachelor ....................🤣
  16. My first thought is the clips are not actually touching the battery terminal(s). There may be a plastic lip on the ends that keeps the metal of the clip away from the terminal. Are you saying you have a third charger that DOES charge the NBN battery(s) ?
  17. Dont often announce a hookup, just wind it in and dangle it in my mates face... but if they are nibbling the bait without biting... its... "If you really love me you will swallow that..."
  18. With this virus and my age I'll probly never live long enuff to be nominated... so... Congrats to you all. These awards recognise not your expertise as a fisherperson, but your outstanding services to your fellow members. Thank you.
  19. I just fly the BLACK PLAGUE flag all the time I'm out......
  20. Read this... https://www.crcindustries.com/world-anti-seize/ I use wheel bearing grease on the wheel nuts, 3 or 4 times a year (quick, cheap and simple) and a copper-based anti sieze on the other bolts. Regardless of what you use... always carry spare wheel nuts be prepared to shear a 'frozen' nut/bolt.
  21. Glad your enjoying God's Country (SA 'Far West Coast) The trick to making Salmon into a superb eating fish is: cut the throat and bleed the fish IMMEDIATELY it is landed AFter bleeding for around 5 min, get it in to an ice slurry when ready to eat... fillet and skin Skinning is mandatory to get rid of the strong oils under the skin. coat the fillets with seasoned flour (Tandaco fish seasoning is ideal) grill the fillets over hot coals (frying is OK but grilling is better) Dont over cook. remove and discard the red "muscle"/ blood from the skin side of the cooked fillet ENJOY.. one of the most under rated fish in the sea. Even huge ones are delicious cooked this way.
  22. 👍 geez we are GOOD !!
  23. Check out this thread, recently solved. If this doesnt assit you, message me. I'd love to do house calls but I'm in Adelaide.
  24. Flat-Luke............ if you have a 12volt charger you MUST charge each battery to 12 v separately OR use 2 x 12v chargers (1 on each battery) OR use a 24v charger across both batteries (in series)
  25. Good news Dave, and you have the satisfaction of solving it yourself (asking for advice IS part of the self-solution) and it not costing you $$$ without getting a truthful explanation. If it happens again you will know the process to follow--- and the first place to look! Glad your 'back in the water' (so to speak) and pleased I could assist.
