  1. That filter idea is good but just crazy in practice. I had never seen one like that before. I always fill up with the tanks on the ground but they do get a bit upset sometimes when I transfer to the car and put the fuel cap in the handle to lock it on whilst I put the lids back on the jerry cans and put it in the car.
  2. Great weather atm. How big was the king?
  3. It’s good to hear you spent the day on the water Fab.
  4. It all depends on the people and circumstances. If I was buying or selling a boat I’d, Not negotiate over the phone prior to inspection. With the possible exception of long distance purchases. I would be willing to take somebody that appears genuine for a run in the boat before negotiation or offers if I had some doubts about them I may discuss their intentions. The exception to this would be if I was looking to purchase a boat I had never been in before I would explain it to the seller and offer to pay for a sea run to determine if it’s a boat or hull I really like how it goes. I think the tricky thing is the payment if it’s electronic somebody either has both the boat and money at one stage and somebody doesn’t. I kind of feel more comfortable with cash or a bank cheque. The boat I sold a few years ago we had three lookers the first two were impressed but it didn’t suit for whatever reason one determined it was bigger than expected and couldn’t store it. The third looked we arranged a test run to which they bought somebody along with experience. After the test run they asked for the bank details with no price discussion at all. It brings back memories of some of the “immaculate” things I looked at in the trading post days.
  5. Does it get any better than that? Very hard to beat a day like that.
  6. Up to about 230 gram sinker and 3/0 baitkeeper hook. Standard paternoster with the first hook about 1 ft about the sinker the second another foot above it. 20 lb leader.
  7. I didn’t take notice of the drift speed but it certainly helped us find the bottom for the period the wind was up. We were drifting with the traditional two hook paternoster. Bait was squid, pilly’s and slimy fillets. It was the first time for the new chute, it was effective but seemed to get itself into a tangle when the wind died down. It was never a problem with the old chute. Funny thing is my paypal was credited back with the purchase cost ($100) for some reason. We anchored up and tried to feed out a running ball sinker in the burley trail but with the current even the paternoster with snapper lead wasn’t getting down much at all.
  8. I will try to put up a report later. We struggled all day. The current was running pretty hard. Not even an underside snapper. Lost heaps of our gear to jackets to sink the boot it a bit more. Between the two of us we ended up with 4 flatties and 5 squid. Tried a few spots including Bandit reef. I got to test out the new parachute anchor and also deep anchor with retrieval ball for the first time. It might be time to look at getting some sinker moulds and either take a pipe to reshape the anchor or make Ricks type.
  9. What a logic winters day to be on the water. Nice bag of fish Sam and much better than my catch down past the hump yesterday.
  10. The last cast or last line out so often gets the fish of the day. Very nice way to finish the day. If I take pics on my iPhone and want to reduce the size I email them to myself and it asks what size.
  11. Two top sessions there. Good size as well
  12. This video popped up on my feed the other day. It is very good at explaining the terms and rules with vehicle and towing weights.
  13. I know that feeling when the curiosity keeps dragging you in,
  14. That first session was a cracker. Sounds like a ray or something, I wouldn’t have the patience for 2hrs of that unless it was running hard.
  15. I agree. It applies in each category, 750kg as they approach 2 tonne and again at 3.5tonne. A lot of boat manufacturers choose to live in fairyland to keep the cost down. Pretending a rig is under 2 tonne when you can’t even fill it with fuel is laughable. That is until it all goes pear shaped.
  16. Are you referring to the app ID Fish. Blackfish has nailed it again. The app states it is toxic to eat.
  17. My kids preferred pumping the nippers to fishing. So good when you can fish and they supply the bait. One rule I have is kids and fishing is sunglasses especially if using lures with trebles.
  18. Very nice flattie yowie and a good feed as always.
  19. I agree. They really need the royal commission but both sides of politics know it will expose their poor behaviour.
  20. I really hope they come up with a smart plan but I really doubt they will.
  21. Gee Berleyguts that’s an expensive day. I’m glad you got some fish for the troubles.
  22. I think that’s the go. My driveway is over 40 metres long. It would help heaps with reversing up it.
  23. That’s a good feed. 63cm is a top blue spot.
