  1. But common sense isn't written in a rule book ?
  2. I wouldn't know what their after sales & warranty is like because I have never had to use it! I love Diawa gear but like anything you get what you pay for so dont expect a $80 reel to do the job of a $800 one
  3. I though also that snapper like flattish gravel like areas where there are plenty of shellfish etc??
  4. I always use RMS maps when looking at a fishing area. This may also help http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/documents/maritime/usingwaterways/maps/boating-maps/9d-port-jackson.pdf
  5. Most of my inshore SP spinning reels are 2500 to 4000 but I am only generally fishing in 20mtr or less or water. As mentioned its about line capacity more than anything.
  6. If I had a boat that could get me out there I definitely would. I haven't fished there but the colours & Nods are in your reach & even trolling along the north or south head could produce anything from Bonnies to Kingfish. Don't know if your going to see Dollies or Marlin that close in, more like the Fads or the Peak etc.
  7. Nice fish! What state & fishery was it caught please?
  8. Nice Also great when raiders can get together!
  9. Isn't Botany bay wide a FAD?? The FADS are not there because its winter & wont be put out until around October/November apparently?
  10. Found this one the other week, click on display fishing spot marks. It opens up in google earth, I had GE already installed so if it doesn't open then download GE then repeat. http://nswwrecks.info/Shipwreck Database.html
  11. There are a heap of deer in the national park & surrounds, to the point that there have had to be organised culls arranged by the DPI due to the danger to motorists & damage to properties. They are great to look at until they come through your windscreen! No danger if your in a boat of course Don't forget they are an introduced species, like carp, taking food out of the mouths of native species & also competing with livestock. But they taste awesome ?
  12. I stopped going to boat & car shows because what the point of paying for looking at stuff you cant afford! Of course if you have a wad full of cash then go nuts ? Enjoy that new ICC venue though, its pretty cool!
  13. Plenty of marks available on here if you do a search & on the net. Haven't been to either & so no real experience but have read the colours is a snapper/morwong type of spot with occasional kings & browns is a blue eye trevalla, gemfish, pearl perch & deep fish kind of spot. Not everyone but a lot of guys that fish browns seem to use electric reels as it like 300mtrs +
  14. Is it under warranty? Can you take it back to the dealer?? Breather opened enough on the tank?? Yeh you could throw a dart as the what the problem is but sounds like a fuel issue but that's a guess of course & it could be something as trivial as a faulty kill switch? For piece of mind just take it in for a service & explain the problems so the tech can test it under similar conditions.
  15. looks like a cracker of a day, the fish being a bonus
  16. Thing is if you go fishing & come back & park in the same spot is that classed as moved?? I live in the area right now & yeh there are some boats that never move so I do understand where they are coming from but how will this be monitored as to my question above? The other thing is the light rail is affecting all the side street parking so agree that something needs to be done to weed out the space wasters. If your not using it then sell the bloody thing or just take it to the dump! Some of them are near wrecks anyway ?
  17. How many are using Salt Away at the end of their flush cycle?
  18. Hi fella's. heading out in the morning & wondering which way to go. Have a number of things in mind but would love to find a winter large solo king or 2. Anyone been out there recently & is it worth a shot at this time of year? If not any good suggestions? Cheers.
  19. Looks like the family all had a good time even if it was in the most over policed recreational fishery in NSW.
  20. Wow, I have everything I need but can still think of at least 10 things I would rather spend my money on over life jackets ?. All good, just offering a member something for nothing as I am a firm believer in karma. Enjoy what you eventually get.
  21. I know you said 'prefer not inflatable' but those older styles are super hot in summer. Also don't forget they are rated & if your fishing off ocean facing rocks you would need an open water model which is why there is a collar. If you are interested I have 2 near new older foam PFD's I no longer want, I think one is a 150 open water model Marlin with a collar & 1 looks the same as the Adult Dominator PFD enclosed waters but I think its a 100, I will have to check both, I think they are large or XL, I would have to check but think they changed the rating a little while ago? Anyway 1 is open water the other is enclosed waters You are welcome to them for nothing but you would have to be able to pick them up from Sydney or pay for postage. Let me know if your interested & I can send you a picture if you like.
  22. No one has really explained why it is that you need so much rope out. Can someone please give the main reasons why 3 or 4 times the depth in rope is needed?
  23. I like the idea of this & wouldn't mind setting it up on my 13ft tinny. I know its not that far to the front but its still a PITA getting up & back, climbing over gear & seats. I found this youtube which explained the system to me a bit better. I like it & think O will get this system ready over winter ready for spring fishing.
  24. If your going to do that I would get one that's rated at twice your boat length or get a couple. I got one recently that's recommended for 20ft boats & it has trouble slowing my 13ft tinny in 15knt winds!
