  1. It is a gasket for something. I have pulled up a few fish over the years with various objects in them, on them, around them. Guess it just swam into the gasket and it stayed there.
  2. At least you had a go. Plenty of surfers because of the swell from yesterday.
  3. At least a couple of bream to keep. I was expecting something to take the livie. No surface action to see, other than pillies.
  4. The larger one was thick in the body.
  5. It was half dark when it surfaced, wondered what it was. Hopeful that it will survive, as it looks like the ring has been there for some time.
  6. Headed to my mother's place early to launch my boat. Thought a quick throw out with bonnie chunks might be good, and it was. Produced the 2 bream, both chunky ones, much fat inside the belly, and the stomachs were full of someone else's burley, not mine. Turned out to be a wise move. Headed to the deep near Lilli Pilli, and pulled out half a dozen jewies. Most of them around the 45cm mark, and one nearing the 60's. The larger one had the plastic ring around it's body, cutting a 1cm groove into the body in front of the dorsal fin and damaging the pelvic fins to the point they had nearly vanished. The hook was sitting a bit deep, but managed to extract it. The jewie was looking more like a stunned mullet as it swam along the surface for a short while, then it headed for the deep so hopefully it will recover. Plenty of reddies as well, though the biggest one would just make size if I stretched it out. A few yakkas turned up, so put out a livie. It swam around until it expired. Should have been something of value there, but not today. A variety of baits made no difference. Only pillies jumping, nothing else to see so headed home.
  7. That's a bummer. Should have stayed home and fished the Hacking instead.
  8. Something is better than nothing Mike. Don't banish anything, you may need it sometime in the future. 🤣 Just put them in 'hibernation' for a little while.
  9. Very nice there Rob, a good bag of flatties. We have enough of the jet skis in the Hacking, but the Georges is worse.
  10. Nice work there Will, the bonnies can buzz around on the hook. Good to see you wearing a jacket when fishing the rocks.
  11. A mixed bag, at least something to take home, and a nice flattie.

    Caught by hand

Wallaby was just having a body surf, stayed out for too long. I have seen pictures of black swans body surfing on small waves, then fly back out to do it again.
  13. b.n., these critters are swiming about the rivers most of the year, especially this time of year. All of the river systems have bull sharks, plus others, so no swimming up river, especially during low light periods. Either keep out of the water, or take a chance (no thanks). You will not die from most shark attacks/bites, as it may only be a taste test by the shark, however, it is going to hurt if you do get bitten by a mouthful of razor blades. I was swimming off Wanda Beach today, a bit breezy and not many swimmers out there, then he missus tells me that a tagged bull shark was swimming out the back of the waves yesterday. The shark buoys picked up it's tag in several spots along the beach.
  14. Some entertainment for the early morning. I have had tailor chew little bits out of pillies that were longer than themselves. Many years ago I read a report of a gamefisho trolling a 10 pound tuna for a marlin. The tuna was grabbed by a 40 pound kingfish. That is getting greedy.
  15. Nice work there Bob, showing that fresh prawns are a killer bait.
  16. Nice bag of crabs. Usually a few flatties off the sand banks up that way, and bream in the oyster leases.
  17. Change of scenery there Basil, nice work. Should have smuggled home some squid.
  18. Very nice Bob. A good feed of trag outside, and a few kingies up river.
  19. Good sized fillets off the larger whiting.
  20. Nice Cobe there Rob. The occasional one does turn up in the Hacking. I have pulled out 3 over the years, but smaller than that, so it should produce a couple of good fillets, and they are good eating. A few bream for the nippers, a flatty, and an unstoppable critter. 👍
  21. A good effort by the Raiders, a teaching and practice session.
  22. People just not paying attention, driving along in a dream world. Many new vehicles these days have the new mods - lane assist, proximity assist, radar control, etc, etc. The drivers of these vehicles rely too much on the vehicle's electronics doing the work so they switch off. As I say, some of these drivers could not drive their finger up their own ar*e.
  23. They do not give a shit about others boaters, as I said, just stick up the fingers and keep going well past 4 knots. Yes, the young girl passed away as expected, face down in the water for several minutes.
