  1. I've been off work for a week but back tomorrow so I will try to get around to stand 600 during my break & introduce myself to Mike 👍
  2. Not sure but you can get smaller weighed jigheads in larger hook sizes. As in 3/8 oz in 6/0 etc. In saying that I do have a few fish head shaped weighed jigheads that are long shanked but not sure how heavy they are & cant even remember where I got them from but they aren't a traditional sort of jigheads. I will have a look for them tomorrow.
  3. Well done Pete, its great to be able to sit at the table, enjoy & appreciate it for the effort it took to get there. I know it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside 😁
  4. Mate you should open a dedicated snapper fish & chip shop in NB 😁 Looks like you had another off day 🤣 I still hold hope...……………………….one day 😊
  5. Its one of those things unfortunately that large store have more buying power & are generally cheaper imo. Unless your from a smallish town or live close to a small independent store then your not really going to get have a relationship with one store. In saying that I try to buy online only when there are sales on if I can & you know exactly what you want then you can save a bit of coin! Especially when most of the larger stores will just send it to you with free postage as well if you have an account! Again just my opinion of online stores
  6. I've launched at most ramps around BB & yes Foreshore Rd is by far the best as it has 2 pontoons the surface road is clean not slippery as it is at some. BUT to @Bryson I would heed GF's advice & try to get to the ramp on a week day if possible for your 1st attempt & especially if you just want to spent time sussing it all out. Any ramp on the weekend can be a bit of a pressure cooker of a place when you don't know what you are doing & your holding up 10 people trying to rush to get their boats in & even in the afternoon as people are trying to get out!! I don't actually go to Foreshore Rd on the weekend & choose to travel a bit further to another ramp if I do choose to go fishing on sat/sun but that is rare now. I love midweek fishing
  7. I mostly use the Berkley Nitro Stealth's, they are based on an Owner chemically sharpened sports fishing hook so as far as I am concerned the quality of the hook comes 1st, I also like the keel on the underside.
  8. Wow 3lb I think I'd struggle to even tie knots with 3lb without braking it with my finesse lacking fingers 😅 Certainly draws no argument to the fact the lighter you fish the better the hook up rate. Landing them takes even more finesse! Nice work 😊
  9. 😂 Cool. Who's on 1st 🤔😊
  10. So who caught the kingie & who took the picture & who pulled you over & who is the friend of the raider 🤣🤐
  11. Ouch, or should I say s!@t 😅 I know BB has had pollution shutdowns from time to time but Im not sure If one coincided with this incident. Be interesting to know if we were advised??
  12. Plenty of people swear by moon phase affecting fishing so I don't think its all pie in the sky. Ive been meaning to get myself an Almanac, there are a few around. Still not sure I would follow it to a T as sometimes I just want to get out regardless when I have an opportunity but you never know it might help with coming home with a fish so if it works its worth the $8 👍 Also PM sent Taz
  13. Targeted, caught in the esky. Well done FHL 👍 Although not sure about the music theory? Ive heard music can increase the growth rate of plants but never heard of it attracting fish 😂
  14. I agree with all that but not the 1st paragraph, sure negotiate a price on the spot but I don't believe anyone should put a deposit on anything until your back at shore. Its up to your skills of communication to find out if they are really interested after they have seen it in person & before you even offer a ride. If someone said tome leave a deposit before boarding then I & I think most people would be walking away!
  15. I am hearing you Paul, my last 2 outing in Botany bay produced a donut on both occasions. Very unusual not to bring something home or at least catch any fish! Still I am always excited about getting back on the water & throwing a line in regardless. As they say a bad day's fishing is still better than a good day at work 😉
  16. Sounds/looks relaxing all the same PP! Its a great spot for that. A friend of mine has his boat moored in Currambene & every time I've been to it & moving up to the entrance I have seen some stonking bream in that creek. As usual this time of year is harder but still a bit of fun right 👍
  17. Nice work mate, I bet they tasted great 👍 I still haven't been out since NB but wont be long & back into it. Haven't been to that store you suggested yet but will give these a crack next outing. Hopefully I can get me some of those tasty Cephalopods 😊
  18. I've been 40km offshore quite a few times, but I normally feel pretty relaxed on a deck chair by the pool & the buffets are great 😁 But seriously I cant imagine what it would be like on a small vessel that far out! Id be s!@t scared of being hit by a tanker 😱
  19. Someone could offer me $1,000,000 to jump off a boat that far out to spear a fish & I'd still knock it back Nice looking fish thought 👍
  20. While its fun to try & catch fish with lures & Sp's really there is no substitute for the hard work getting fresh bait. First thing we used to do when we arrived in NB was put in the poddy mullet trap & start pumping nippers & the result was always good. 40 odd years on looks like the same methods still work 👍 Great fish, congrats Jnr Coincidently I have one of dads original pumps that I want to bring back to life, think it is made of brass? Just need some love by probably breaking it down, grease & a new main rubber which I will probably have to donate an old pair of thongs for!
  21. There is actually a really good fish ID link someone put up here not long ago that I am trying to find which might help. Get back to you on that 👍
