    Leeches

I am certainly no expert on Annelids(Had to look that up 😄) but with all the rain we have had over the last couple of years it may have caused a spike in their breeding. This may improve when the weather dries out. Maybe
  2. Great write up LF of you and the families North Coast adventure. At least you out witted some of the local fish.
  3. Great variety there Kobi, some good chewing certainly.
  4. Could have been a nasty outcome. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-01-05/nsw-storms-dangerous-surf-safety-warnings-man-overboard-narooma/101828224
  5. Thats a cracker of a Whiting.
  6. You would need a few of them for a feed, that's if you wanted to try. As Noelm said "But not for me"
  7. Eastern Kelpfish. Also know as a Kelpie/ Kelpfish. Rock Cales have more of a Blunt snout where Kelpfish have a more pointed snout and more smaller white spots. They have come up on here a few times before. Can be a pain taking baits targeted at better fish but should be released unharmed.
  8. Fantastic report and photos Dave and Amy. What a great way to end the year. 👍
  9. I think he posted a photo of a Dusky there KB.
  10. Official "Common" name is an Estuary Cobbler. But Eel tail Catfish or I know them as Estuary Catfish. Not the prettiest critter. They have some very nasty spikes on the Pectoral and Dorsal fins. Very Painful so be careful.
  11. I'll throw one up. Kimberleys WA. Not a fish I was really chasing but a Blue Bastard (Yes that what they are called) as they can be a bugger to hook. These have a following for the Fly Fishing fraternity as an Iconic Fly fishing target. Over a period of time have seen them floating around and even 2 fighting on the surface where they lock Jaws. This one was taken on a Hard Body, Blue Nilsmaster Spearhead ... Oh the Sacrilege. Water depth was approximately 1mt, around rocks and a mud bottom. Geez it played up on light gear. It was special as I've never caught one before and I was surprised when we saw it near the boat.

  13. It's the big picture Rick isn't it.
  14. Great lot of catches there Baz seems every one is enjoying themselves and that's what its all about.
  15. Hi @GordoRetired i'm recently retired and my name is Gordon so i'm a GordoRetired (Version 2) 😀
  16. Bass had no chance with you Mob up there fishing fruits. 😄 Maybe add to the collection a Pear/Apple/ Orange lure but make sure it's the right season.
  17. Thanks for posting so much content that we enjoyed reading through out the year you 2 and taking us all on your journey. Good luck with the Cod, looking forward to the report. Wish you both a safe and happy new year.
  18. Great fish and good to see the Closed face reel. Haven't seen a photo of someone using one for ages. 👍
  19. Great to take the kids out for a fish, cracker of a day for it and it seems they enjoyed themselves which is what its all about. Im sure they will talk about the adventure for a while. As for your fish, the first is a Gunther's Wrasse and the second is a Striped Barracuda .... goes by a lot of common names also. I've always called them a Sea Pike.
  20. Thanks mate. Have a great one today.
  21. Hi @Fab1 I've got the same beast. We had to cancel Crissy at our place this year, so it will be just 3 of us and the dog. I've passed the throat with the razor blades stage, then it went to the cough that tore what was left of your throat out and now I only feel like crap. Such a improvement. My thoughts go out to you Fab. Those who haven't had a bad dose I truly hope you never get it. And those who don't have it have a GREAT and a Happy one with friends and family. @noelm I pretty sure I caught this off my daughter, she had a mild case and recovered pretty quickly where I got smashed. So people should take responsibility for infecting others. Yes common sense should tell you to act responsible.
  22. That would be a record for a mix of fish, certainly unusual.
