  1. Cracker jew, great work as usual yowie
  2. In an ideal world would love to have way more offshore reef & islands like they have in many other part of the country like Qld & WA but hey you just have to work with what you have in the end right! I think I just keep teasing myself by watching fishing shows based in FNQ, NT & WA in places like the Abrolhos Islands. But I keep dreaming.............................one day.
  3. Excellent result & great 1st report
  4. I hear where your saying but the actual traction is where it counts which is above the most slippery part of the ramp which is usually at the lowest part close to the low tide water line. I have owned many front wheel drive vehicles & driven them in a lot of different conditions including heavy snow areas & they pull above their weight over rear wheel drives. Towing the boat will be no issue, the biggest factor to me is ramp incline angle. I have an unbraked trailer with a 14Ft tinny with a 25hp motor plus the gear & towing with a Triton 4x4 & even with that weight I prefer to use 4 wheel drive on any ramp that has a very steepish incline. So imo there is no one answer, it's totally ramp dependant in my eyes so you need to assess any ramps you use & the biggest factor will be exiting the ramp so I would be pulling as much weight out of is as possible beforehand. Power to weight ratio/incline is also the other factor which can again also be reduced by reducing the weight in the tinny before extracting.
  5. Sounds like a good productive day from a set plan which I think we all should aspire to achieve. Looks like you might have received a good mark from one of my local tackle stores in Global tackle who are a good bunch of guys willing to help with advice for regular customers 😉
  6. Nice work. Botany bay or the georges??
  7. Nice effort Dave, sounds like your plans changes a bit from Windamere but you still managed to get your yellow football
  8. Always pays to have a plan & you can't catch one if you don't have a line in the water so good luck.
  9. Great work Ant, a species I want to try & target more myself. I have read the vibes work a bit better than the plastics as the "vibration" really gets them interested. Still when you can cross all the types of lure captures off the list its an accomplishment that gets you thinking what is the best way to go bigger & bigger & bigger 🤔 Thanks for sharing
  10. Looks like a fantastic day out with all the family Zoran Nothing like a day like that to remind yourself we are just small cogs on a big chain in a beautiful yet fragile world.
  11. Water temp was 18.6*c in the bay on Wednesday so getting close.
  12. Yep, I would call that a 3 hook snell rig not 3 gang hook rig. Another example of 3 gang hooks-
  13. A bit hard to read what your trying to say. So your losing the last 2 of the 3 gang hooks rig & not getting your leader bitten of is that correct?? If that is the case could be the eyelets opening up under weight, not all gang hooks are equal in quality, I actually have some gang hooks that are not connected(open eye) & need to crimp the eyelets once the hook is thread through, check the eyelets & the hook quality. A lot of gangs are made of like an alloy & some are steel, not a fan of those allow versions. I tend to really only use gangs if I am beach fishing but not sure how you are fishing? The other option is to maybe use something like a 2 hook snelled rig again using a quality hook.
  14. So you agree with me then? Size of hook has an impact on target species! Not sure about 10/0 hooks? Yep seen all those pictures before but not sure that they bring to the thread or the OP's question??
  15. Maybe try a salt neutralization solution like saltaway or any other to stop this. Works for me.
  16. Would be good to see your photo but my thought is when you stated you don't like to spray your your internal areas it does have to be treated differently to say a painted surface which I think is a lot easier to deal with. Not sure of the answer but continuous salt spray exposure uncleaned from not hosing down is probably what's done the damage? Maybe just a simple coat of silicone spray will help? I think if it was me I would want to be periodically still spraying down the inside with a salt dispersion agent like saltaway then rince of.
  17. I think the rules about catching kingfish are...........................there are no rules. You only have to read many a report or watch as many youtubes or fishing shows to see that they will take whatever they are in the mood for. One day its live squid only, next day if live squid is put in their face they wont touch it but will take a squid strip bait, next day live slimey's/yakka's/aussie salmon will do the damage then the following day they wont touch them but will take a slimey slab bait. Then some days people will be fishing all of the above & someone puts down a jig & cleans them up. At the end of the day to me you just have to be prepared with all the arsenal at your disposal & work on the "fly" so to speak, live baits, different live baits, jigs, SP's, trolling lures like the old Christmas tree's, stickbaits floating & sinking.
  18. Nice work, last time I fished there caught quite a few undersized taylor in the schools so good to hear they are growing
  19. Totally agree but it depends on what size fish your tyring to catch imo. 6/0's are way oversized for even large salmon or jew but then smaller fish will struggle to get near it. Its similar to bait size, larger baits generally are for larger fish so if your going that big allround then expect to catch less unless the fish size matches the hatch. Cant say I would actually own any 6/0 gang hooks, most common size I have is between 1/0 & 3/0.
  20. Or it could be connected but just not adjusted properly? They normally have an adjuster nut/coupler & if not adjusted correctly it could either not select the gear at all or just be partially engaging so imo you need to just make adjustements until it fully engages. You dont mention the year model but for memory your Tohatsu is most likely the same as a 30hp mercury & your linkage probably should look like this but depends on the year??
  21. Yes you should get a decent flow from the tell tale Could be tell tale hose blockage but could also be that your impeller is buggered to. Definately a process of elimination. A friend had a similar problem but the motor had sand go through the intake & we tried to do a reverse flush. It helped............for a while but in the end had to remove the foot & look at the water pump which was still full of sand. Ended up having to replace the water pump.
  22. Welcome back & great report. Nothing better time with family doing some fishing & some nice fish as a bonus😀 Thanks for sharing
  23. That's a fish of a lifetime. Shame it couldn't be returned but as long as it is enjoyed & appreciated that the main thing.
